FAREWELL FROM VADM BROWNE February 12, 2007 My wonderful AFCEA International friends, I presented my resignation to our Board Chairman, The Honorable Duane Andrews, shortly after the first of the year and announced my retirement at the 30 January board of directors meeting. My last day as president will be 28 February. I want to thank every one of you for the privilege to serve our association as President/CEO for over 5 years. I love our organization, from chapter members, chapter officers and RVPs to the Executive Committee that governs our activities. My list of things I am “most proud of” is long and varied. First of all is SERVICE to our nations and people across the globe who respect freedom. Next is the PATRIOTIC actions of our IT industry. These are followed by the ETHICS in everything we do, the DIVERSITY that closely parallels our industry demographics, our focus on QUALITY in events and membership service, and of course EDUCATION. I know that the Board of Directors will name a replacement who will take our association to new levels of patriotic service. I have complete confidence in the headquarters staff to break in a new president and in the RVPs who will continue to represent the worldwide volunteers and chapters. We face many more opportunities than challenges as a professional association - I think our future is extremely bright. I will use Information Technology to be the finest horseman and farmer in Virginia. If you are ever near Spring Grove, Virginia, stop by for a glass of iced tea.
My Very Best Wishes and Thanks,
Herb Browne Vice Admiral, USN (Ret.) President and CEO AFCEA International 703-631-6215 |
