The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) Tucson Chapter, in conjunction with New Horizons Computer Learning Center of S. Arizona, is bringing you Windows 8 First Look Event on Feb 7, 2012 from 0800-1100 at the Davis-Monthan AFB Theater.
This event will enable IT professionals to understand the key benefits of deploying, determining adoption levels, and meeting training needs for the new, re-imagined Windows 8 Desktop Operating System.
This 3-hour event is intended for those who either influence IT decisions or who support IT infrastructures who want to gain early insight into new features and functionality of the Windows 8 Operating System. It is technical content for technical people and provides an overview of some of the key technologies and features in Windows 8. The key new technologies in Windows 8 covered in this clinic are:
- Client Hyper-V
- App-V
- Windows To Go
- Windows Store
- A tour of the new user interface (UI)
- SkyDrive
- Direct Access
- BitLocker
- Windows 8 Ecosystem
- UE-V and Folder Redirection
- Windows Intune
- Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP)
In a joint effort, the Air Force, Army and Defense Information Systems Agency solidified a 3 year agreement with Microsoft to include the Windows 8 operating system. The Air Force has been testing Windows 8 for deployment since last summer. Are you ready to support it?
AUDIENCE: This free training event is open to all DoD military and civilians and any AFCEA Tucson Chapter member with base access. To benefit most from this event, experience with Windows 7 and/or Windows Server 2008 in support and implementation roles is beneficial but not required.
As an added benefit, those maintaining a DoDD8570.01M A+ certification will l earn 3 CEUs by attending this event.
