AFCEA Links to National Network

AFCEA initiative contributes to increasing awareness of cyber safety.

To support the ever-increasing national priority of cybersecurity, AFCEA International recently joined the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Stop.Think.Connect. National Network. Through the association’s robust and extensive membership and chapter network, AFCEA will significantly contribute to awareness and offer programs that help protect Internet users as well as create a competitive cybersecurity work force.

The AFCEA initiative is contributing and partnering within communities in several ways, including:

  • Providing cybersecurity continuing education/training courses and programs

  • Hosting chapter forums and national events dedicated to cybersecurity

  • Awarding cybersecurity scholarships and internships via the AFCEA Educational Foundation
  • Supporting cybersecurity competitions

As part of President Obama’s Cyberspace Policy Review, the Department of Homeland Security created the ongoing cybersecurity awareness campaign—Stop.Think.Connect.—to help Internet users understand the risks that come with being online. The national network now includes more than two dozen organizations.
