Cool App-titude: U.S. Defense Department App Challenge

April 3, 2012
By Rachel Eisenhower

The U.S. Defense Department is seeking creative app ideas that provide science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) learning tools. The Advanced Distributed Learning Initiative, a research and development office within the department, is heading up the challenge. From April 2 to June 4, 2012, interested participants can submit innovative ideas for better incorporating mobile devices into education, particularly regarding STEM efforts in grades K-12. The contest is open to any developers with app solutions for problem solving, discovery and exploratory learning in the area of "common misconceptions of science." Entering the challenge is free. Winning apps will be showcased at the iFest Conference in Orlando, Florida, July 31 to August 2, 2012.
