Cloud computing is fast becoming the new normal. It can increase efficiency and improve cash flow, making it an attractive and necessary service for both industry and government.

As part of SIGNAL’s executive video series, Editor-in-Chief Robert K. Ackerman sat down with Jasson Walker Jr., founder, president and CEO of cFocus Software Inc., to discuss authority to operate (ATO) as a service. The company’s main focus is providing customers risk management framework compliance when they are looking to move to the cloud.

“Moving to the cloud is usually a much more involved process than most people give it credit for,” said Walker. ATO as a service focuses on the categorization, assessment, implementation and authorization of the new IT system.

“The secret sauce with ATO as a service is the software as a service we provide. Sign up is easy and once you obtain a subscription you can set up roles and responsibilities for all stakeholders involved,” Walker added.

The software is optimized for providing an ATO for IT systems hosted on Microsoft Azure. “Microsoft is our preferred cloud vendor and we have been partners for more than 10 years,” Walker said. “CFocus has really been a pioneer with Azure and the Microsoft cloud in general.”

The future looks bright for ATO as a service. “We are laser focused on helping IT companies and federal agencies that want to implement software as a service and help them get the authority to operate with their IT systems,” Walker stressed.

CFocus is looking to engage with state and local governments and possibly even commercial businesses as well. “We are poised and ready to help them all with migration to the cloud and have the agility to adjust based on the changing requirements of the government and technology,’ concluded Walker.
