Consider for a moment that where we are now with regards to sequestration is not just happinstance, but a very well thought out strategy. If you take The Godfather (Obama's former Chief of Staff and now Mayor of Chicago) at face value, then this current bruhaha may have been designed from the beginning. In effect, large portions of America's society are being introduced to the pain that spending cuts will generate, no matter how small. $16.5T in debt and we are being told that $85B is the end of the world as we know it. If that logic is accepted by the majority, then what do you think the result will be when Trillions of cuts over a 10 year period are suggested? Do any among us truly believe that with the right prompting what's happening in Greece and Italy will not happen here? Frankly, I don't know the answer to that question. But I can tell you what I believe - we are not all that different from them. Goaded and prodded by the right stimuli, we will succumb to the same temptation to vent our rath on those we hold responsible; especially when we have our "leadership" (on both sides) providing none, and openly taking every advantage of every misstep by the other side simply to score political points. Some facet of this process is going to break...when that happens I hope it spawns a political movement that in fact is focused on what is best for the country and not our current crop of political animals.
