It’s time to recognize the Young AFCEANs whose efforts contribute to the success of your chapter, your community and your association. Chapter members must submit nominations for Distinguished Young AFCEAN (DYA), Emerging Leadership and Chapter Young AFCEAN Program awards no later than midnight EDT Friday, September 21, 2012.
The DYA awards recognize and reward exceptional performance in technical achievement as well as support at the chapter level that is above and beyond attendance at chapter activities. Nominees must be an AFCEA member and 40 years of age or younger; nominations must be endorsed by the AFCEA regional vice president (RVP). In addition, RVPs personally select an individual from their region to receive the Regional DYA Award.
The Emerging Leadership Award is presented to individuals who have continuously led Young AFCEAN activities since they were chosen as a Distinguished Young AFCEAN. In addition to being a member of AFCEA and a previous DYA award winner, the individual must be actively mentoring other members and involved with the Young AFCEAN community. The RVP must endorse nominations.
The Young AFCEAN Program Award recognizes the chapters that significantly contribute to the professional development of Young AFCEANs through their programs and other initiatives. For example, these chapters may offer seminars, panels and job fairs; feature recognition and scholarship programs; provide opportunities to participate in chapter committees; or sponsor subchapters at academic or military/government training centers.
