Congratulations go out to Master Sgt. Kiyon Buckley, USAF, of the Texas region, who was named the 2012 Young AFCEAN of the Year, and to 13 Regional Distinguished Young AFCEANs, 16 Distinguished Young AFCEANs and seven Emerging Leadership Award winners.

At the AFCEA/USNI WEST conference in January, AFCEA International recognized the excellence of the association’s up-and-comers with presentations to the 2012 Young AFCEAN of the Year, Distinguished Young AFCEAN (DYA) and Emerging Leadership award winners.

Through its annual awards program, AFCEA recognizes the outstanding contributions of individuals in the communications, electronics, intelligence and information technology disciplines. The DYA Award recognizes and rewards exceptional performance in two areas: consistently going “above and beyond” at the local AFCEA chapter level and superior technical achievement in the professional arena.

AFCEA regional vice presidents personally select individuals from their regions to receive the Regional DYA Award. These honorees represent an elite group of individuals who tirelessly support their chapters in numerous areas, from staffing ticket tables to creating innovative ways to raise chapter and scholarship funds. Their diligent work and choice as a regional award winner also qualifies them to win the Young AFCEAN of the Year Award.
