Canine partners long have provided comfort to humans with a variety of ailments. USA Battle Buddies exists to form those bonds of support between dogs and combat wounded veterans suffering from physical disabilities and emotional stress related to their military service. The goal is to help these former service members transition more easily to civilian life.

Interested veterans can learn about requirements to participate and how to apply online. USA Battle Buddies also offers opportunities for the general public to support its mission. The program accepts European purebred German Shepherds between the ages of 1 1/2 and 3. People also can donate money and supplies.

Homefront Help also has a Facebook page where visitors can gather and share information. If you know of a program that is helping service personnel, veterans or their families please submit that information to Rita Boland, SIGNAL’s senior news editor.
