SAIC Awarded $11 Million Task Order from the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) has been awarded a task order by the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) to support the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of the JIEDDO Enterprise Management System. JIEDDO coordinates efforts among U.S. Defense Department organizations and international agencies to defeat the threat posed by improvised explosive devices against U.S. and coalition forces.

Creating Futures

Creating Futures offers transitioning U.S. veterans as well as individuals with disabilities, at-risk youth and dislocated workers opportunities to build careers in the information technology field. Creating Futures works with employers to identify needs and then trains individuals to fill those capabilities gaps, placing candidates in long-term jobs. The education and training programs help students obtain the technical, business and communications skills employers want.

Run through the CompTIA Educational Foundation, the program offers several online courses: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Server+ and CompTIA Security+. The training is provided at no cost to students. Candidates are screened and notified of their acceptance into the program via e-mail.

Individuals interested in the program can fill out the application online, and employers interested in interviewing Creating Futures students for job opportunities also can submit an online form. Completing the form does not commit a company to hire anyone but demonstrates an interest in interviewing candidates or potentially hiring Creating Futures students. Additional contact information is available on the Web site for interested organizations.

Also listed online is information about donating to the program. Creating Futures accepts financial and in-kind support such as monetary gifts, donation of classroom/training seating, contributions of training materials, receipt of on-the-job-training or internships, and consideration of candidates for employment within an organization. Interested parties can donate online or by phone, fax or mail. A list with explanations of alternate donation options, such as matching gift programs and planned giving, is posted as well.

Navmar Receives Contract for Surveillance, Reconaissance and Force Protection Systems

Navmar Applied Sciences Corporation, a small business, is being awarded a $10 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for a Phase III small business innovative research contract for near-term and far-term advanced surveillance, reconnaissance and force protection systems. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, New Jersey, is the contracting activity.

Boeing to Provide Research and Development for Army Rotorcraft Programs

The Boeing Company has won three competitive proposals resulting in U.S. Army technology investment agreements with a combined value of more than $19 million. The agreements with the Army's aviation applied technology directorate cover applied research and development in support of the rotor durability Army technology objective (ATO) and the high performance rotary wing vehicle designs (HPRWVD) program. As part of the rotor durability ATO efforts, Boeing will work to improve the durability and performance of helicopter rotor blades by developing and testing permanent blade-erosion protection, reliable and maintainable icing protection, improved blade repairability and increased rotor performance concepts. In support of the HPRWVD program, Boeing will design and evaluate an unloaded, lift-offset rotor system that includes a non-rotating wing positioned above the rotor to provide lift in forward flight. The system is projected to meet or exceed the Army's vibration- and noise-reduction goals while enabling higher speeds. The third agreement supports the rotor durability ATO and involves evaluating and demonstrating new, more reliable methods of transferring power and data across the non-rotating airframe to the rotating blade interface.

SAIC Awarded Task Order by Naval Surface Warfare Center-Crane Division

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) has been awarded a task order by the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC)-Crane Division to provide engineering, technical and management services. The follow-on task order, awarded under the SeaPort-e contract, has a two-year base period of performance, three one-year options and a total value of more than $48 million if all options are exercised. SAIC will continue to support the Small Arms Weapons Systems Division by helping develop, integrate and improve new and existing weapon systems. SAIC will also provide engineering, technical and management support in the areas of scientific/engineering analysis, test and evaluation, field engineering, configuration management, and overhaul and maintenance.

Sealevel Systems to Provide Work in Support of Multi-Band Multi-Mission Radios

Sealevel Systems Incorporated has been awarded a delivery order in the amount of $4 million under a five-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract with a ceiling of $11.5 million for the procurement of the Personal Data Assistant-184 Universal Serial Bus to synchronous serial adapter radio interface cable systems in support of the multi-band multi-mission radio for U.S. Special Operations Command.

Northrop Grumman Receives Contract for New Air Vehicle Technologies

Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation's Integrated Systems Sector is receiving an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract for $139 million. This action will enable the Air Vehicle Integration and Technology Research Program to conduct research to develop, demonstrate, integrate and transition new air vehicle technologies and prototypes that will provide affordable, revolutionary capabilities to the warfighter. The technology developments will provide for cost-effective, survivable air vehicle platforms capable of accurate delivery of weapons and cargo worldwide.

BearingPoint Receives Marine Corps Systems Command Contract

BearingPoint Incorporated is being awarded a $6.3 million firm-fixed-price contract for the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command requirement for the acquisition of an identity and access management (IAM) solution and the subsequent systems integration as part of the Marine Corps Enterprise Information Technology Services (MCEITS) program of record. The IAM solution shall provide a MCEITS service that will be available for other systems and organizations across the Marine Corps enterprise. This contract includes options that if exercised would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $15.6 million. The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, Virginia, is the contracting activity.

Raytheon Awarded $10 Million to Develop New Missile Defense Interceptor

Raytheon Company has been awarded a $10 million Missile Defense Agency contract to continue research and development of the network-centric airborne defense element, an air-launched weapon system designed to engage short- and medium-range ballistic missiles in the boost and ascent phase of flight.
