The U.S. Air Force has awarded Rockwell Collins, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a contract to provide systems integration and avionics for the KC-10 Communication, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) Cockpit Modernization Program. The contract, valued at more than $160 million over the life of the program, calls for Rockwell Collins to provide the flight management system, displays, data link communications and surveillance capabilities. Rockwell Collins, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has signed a maintenance agreement with L-3 Communications to provide avionics support to the U.S. Air Force Project Liberty Aircraft program, which assists with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. Data Link Solutions (DLS), a joint venture between Rockwell Collins and BAE Systems, has been awarded a $37 million contract from the U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command to upgrade its Joint Tactical Information Distribution Systems (JTIDS) radio terminals. JTIDS terminals provide jam-resistant digital communication of data and voice for command and control, navigation, relative positioning and identification.
