Thales Awarded French LTE Study Contract

The French defence procurement agency has awarded Thales, Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, a contract to study long-term evolution (LTE) technology standards for mobile telephony. The 10-month technical and operational study will identify the potential capability gains of commercial LTE technology for French land, air and naval forces on domestic and expeditionary operations in collaboration with security forces.

Northrop Grumman to Provide Aircraft Navigation to Multiple Nations

Northrop Grumman Corp., Woodland Hills, Calif., is being awarded a $13,172,882 five-year performance based logistics firm-fixed-price requirements contract for the AN/ASN-139 Carrier Aircraft Inertial Navigation System (CAINS II) used in support of the C-2A, E-2C, F/A-18 B/C/D/E/F, S-3 and TAV-8B aircraft. The announcement contains purchases for the governments of Japan, Egypt, France, Malaysia, and Taiwan under the Foreign Military Sales Program. The Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support, Philadelphia, Pa., is the contracting activity.

Rockwell to Produce DAGRs for Australia, France and Italy

Rockwell Collins Incorporated, Government Systems, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is being awarded a $10,798,942 contract modification for production of Defense Advanced GPS Receivers  (DAGRs). Foreign military sales are 3.9 percent of the current effort and include Australia, France, and Italy. Space and Missile Systems Command, El Segundo, California, is the contracting activity.

Thales Awarded Tactical Radio Contract

The French defense procurement agency (DGA) has recently notified Thales of the award of the development contract for the CONTACT program. This program is designed to equip the majority of the French forces' platforms with next-generation tactical radios incorporating innovative software-defined radio technology. Six European nations-Finland, France, Italy, Poland, Spain and Sweden-launched the ESSOR project (European Secure Software defined Radio) in 2009. ESSOR aims to establish a baseline standard for development and production of military software-defined radios in Europe. An ESSOR reference architecture has been defined and shared between the European partners, compatible with the United States standard, and a coalition high-data-rate (HDR) waveform has been developed to provide the basis for a new standard.

Wyle Laboratories Supports Hawkeye Aircraft for Multiple Countries

Wyle Laboratories Incorporated, Huntsville, Alabama, is being awarded a contact modification of more than $28 million for continued E-2C/E-2D/C-2 planning, program, and financial services in support of the Navy and the governments of France, Taiwan, Egypt, Japan, Singapore and Canada under the Foreign Military Sales program. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.
