The Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River, Maryland, has awarded a $4.4 million contract to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company for development, integration, verification, and validation of verification of simulator capabilities for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. The work for this not-to-exceed modification to a previously awarded cost-plus-award-fee contract will be performed in Fort Worth, Texas, with completion planned for October 2014.
The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) has awarded 11 contracts totaling $6.6 billion as part of its Solutions for the Information Technology Enterprise, or SITE. The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contracts will last five years and extend across the defense intelligence enterprise and the intelligence community.
The U.S. Air Force has awarded Lockheed Martin a $3.5 million contract to develop the Integrated Smart-BEAR Power System (ISBPS) for the service. The Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resources (BEAR) program equips U.S. forces with lightweight, air-transportable assets used to establish mobile air bases. ISBPS integrates a variety of energy sources, including renewables, into the existing BEAR power grid.
The U.S. Army Applied Aviation Technology Directorate has awarded Lockheed Martin a $1.5 million contract to continue development of the Kinetic Energy Net (KEN) armor design. KEN is a modular composite armor system developed by Lockheed Martin that is lighter than current aircraft armor, but offers comparable protection. Under the contract, the company will improve the armor's performance by incorporating new forms of advanced ballistic materials and experimental strike faces.
Lockheed Martin has been awarded an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract, with initial funding of $25.7 million, to support the U.S. Army's fielding of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) weapon system. The IDIQ contract consists of a four-year basic contract with five additional one-year options. The total maximum contract value is $435 million through 2019.
The U.S. Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) has selected Lockheed Martin for one of two initial system development and demonstration contracts for the Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) program. The 14-month contract for the common computing environment portion of the program is valued at $15 million. Selection of a single prime contractor to complete limited rate initial production (LRIP) is scheduled for 2011.
The U.S. Navy has awarded a $2.9 million contract to a team led by Lockheed Martin to continue development of an automated logistics system that will help Marines plan and re-evaluate missions based on real time battlefield data. In Phase II of the Sense and Respond Logistics program, Lockheed Martin and its partners will develop and refine the information architecture prototype designed and delivered to the Office of Naval Research under a Phase I contract. Phase II work will serve as the foundation for a decision support capability that will combine mission planning information with data from networked sensors on vehicles and other assets in the battlefield.
The U.S. Navy has awarded Lockheed Martin a $17 million contract to provide engineering design services for the MK 41 Vertical Launching System (VLS) on the U.S. Navy's Ticonderoga class cruisers and Arleigh Burke class guided missile destroyers. The cost-plus-fixed fee contract combines purchases for the U.S. Navy and eight other allied navies under the Foreign Military Sales program. Included in the work is missile integration, software development, integration of the VLS into new ships, technical refresh, systems engineering and life cycle support for the MK 41 VLS.
Lockheed Martin has received a low rate initial production contract valued at $171.8 million from Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems in Bethpage, New York, for four AN/APY-9 airborne early warning radar systems and spare parts. The radar systems will be integrated into the U.S. Navy's new E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft.
Augusta Westland has awarded Lockheed Martin a $49.5 million sustainment and support contract for the Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor (TADS/PNVS) and Modernized TADS/PNVS (M-TADS/PNVS) system on the United Kingdom's Apache AH Mk-1 attack helicopters. Under the contract, the company will provide complete post-production services, including spare parts, in-country repair and technical services, as well as integrated logistics, engineering and depot repair support.
