U.S. Army Awards $988 Million for Soldier Radio Waveform Systems

Exelis Inc., Fort Wayne, Ind. (W15P7T-14-D-0012); General Dynamics C4 Systems Inc., Scottsdale, Ariz. (W15P7T-14-D-0013); Harris Corp., Rochester, N.Y. (W15P7T-14-D-0014, W15P7T-14-D-0015); and Thales Defense & Security Inc., Clarksburg, Md. (W15P7T-14-D-0016), were awarded a $988 million firm-fixed-price contract for soldier radio waveform appliqué radio systems for use by brigade combat teams. Funding and work location will be determined with each order. Army Contracting Command, Aberdeen, Md., is the contracting activity.

Silvus to Demonstrate Advanced Airborne Communications Link

Silvus Technologies Inc., Los Angeles, Calif. has been awarded a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency contract for the 100 Gigabits per second (Gb/s) Radio Frequency (RF) Backbone (100G) program. The total dollar value of this 20 month Phase I contract is approximately $3.7 million. As a final deliverable of this phase, Silvus is to demonstrate a multiple input, multiple output system capable of multiplexing eight independent streams, each carrying one Gb/s data over a line-of-sight wireless range above 50 kilometers. The goal of the 100G program is to design, build and test an airborne-based communications link with fiber-optic-equivalent capacity and long reach that can propagate through clouds and provide high availability. The system will provide 100 Gb/s capacity at ranges of 200 kilometers for air-to-air links and 100 kilometers for air-to-ground links from a high-altitude (e.g. 60,000 ft.) aerial platform. Additionally, the system will provide an all-weather, including cloud, rain, and fog, capability while maintaining tactically-relevant throughput and link ranges.

Motorola to Support Radio Services in Kuwait

Rockwell Collins to Provide Electronic Radios for Aircraft

Rockwell Collins Inc., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is being awarded a $9,175,668 modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-priced contract to exercise an option for the procurement of AN/ARC-210(V) electronic radios and ancillary equipment for a variety of aircraft. Equipment being procured includes 40 C-12561A/ARC control radio sets; 80 MT-6567/ARC mounting bases; 40 MT-7006 ARC amplifier mounts; 40 AM-7526/ARC high power amplifiers; 40 MX-11745/ARC low noise amplifier (LNA) diplexers with high power radio frequency switches; 4 C-12561A reprogramming kits with universal serial bus (USB) port connectors; and 80 RT-1990(C)/ARC receiver-transmitter. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md. is the contracting activity. 

Motorola to Sustain Mobile Radio Systems Worldwide

Motorola Solutions Inc., Columbia, Md., is being awarded a $15,613,852 firm-fixed-price contract for global sustainment of enterprise land and mobile radio systems at 53 military installations worldwide. The work to be performed provides for preventive and corrective maintenance to sustain the enterprise land and mobile radio system and associated equipment and information assurance vulnerability alert compliance/patch management. This includes fixed, mobile and portable units, dispatching equipment and all associated equipment currently deployed as part of Naval Facilities Engineering Command’s worldwide enterprise land and mobile radio systems worldwide. Responsibility of troubleshooting, removal, and replacing of the equipment for these units is also included as part of this requirement. The Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center, Port Hueneme, Calif., is the contracting activity. 

Rockwell Receives High Frequency Radio Funds

Rockwell Collins Inc., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is being awarded a $10,947,863 firm-fixed-price indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to procure up to a maximum of 41 ARC-243 High Frequency Radio System including 200 hours of associated engineering support. The ARC-243 HF radio system includes the receiver exciter, antenna coupler, power supply and associated mounts. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, N.J., is the contracting activity.

Sierra Nevada to Provide Counter-IED Systems

Raytheon to Provide Joint Tactical Terminal Radios

Raytheon Network Centric Systems, Largo, Florida, is being awarded an $8,731,406 contract modification for Joint Tactical Terminal AN/USC-62 radios. These radios will provide the Navy with vital integrated broadcast service receive and transmit capabilities in support of Ballistic missile defense operations. This contract includes options, which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to an estimated $34,659,763. The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, San Diego, California, is the contracting activity.
