General Dynamics to Upgrade Canada’s Reconnaissance Surveillance System

General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada recently announced the Canadian Government has awarded the company a CDN $287 million ($252, 295,000 U.S.) contract to General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada for the provision and integration of an enhanced surveillance suite on to Canadian LAV III Upgrade vehicles, known as LAV 6.0.

The upgraded surveillance system will include a 10-meter retractable mast, an Operator Control Station and a surveillance suite inclusive of radar, thermal/day and image intensification sights, laser range finder and Global Positioning System mounted on a stabilized platform. These enhancements will allow for superior detection ranges, on-the-move operation, integrated silent watch power management and the transmission of images through the communications system. Deliveries of LAV 6.0 vehicles equipped with the upgraded surveillance suite will begin in December 2016.

U.S. Navy Modifies Coast Reconnaissance Contract

Areté Associates, Tucson, Arizona, is being awarded a $11,742,120 modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract (N61331-11-C-0007) for one AN/DVS-1 coastal battlefield reconnaissance and analysis (COBRA) Block I low-rate initial production system to support the littoral combat ship mine countermeasures mission. The primary mission of AN/DVS-1 COBRA is to conduct unmanned aerial tactical reconnaissance in littoral battlespace for detection and localization of mine fields and obstacles in the surf zone and beach zone prior to amphibious assault. Work will be performed in Tucson, Arizona, and is expected to be completed by February 2017. Fiscal 2014 research, development, test and evaluation funding in the amount of $3,400,000 will be obligated at time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division, Panama City, Florida, is the contracting activity.

Areté Supports Coastal Battlefield Reconnaissance and Analysis

Areté Associates, Tucson, Arizona, is being awarded a $10,316,696 modification to previously awarded contract (N61331-11-C-0007) for engineering services in support of AN/DVS-1 Coastal Battlefield Reconnaissance and Analysis (COBRA) Block 1 program. The primary mission of AN/DVS-1 COBRA is to conduct unmanned aerial tactical reconnaissance in littoral battle space for detection and localization of mine fields and obstacles in the surf zone and beach zone prior to amphibious assault. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Panama City Division, Panama City, Florida, is the contracting activity.

L-3 to Support Counterterrorism ISR in Yemen

L-3 Communications, Platform Integration Division, Waco, Texas, has been awarded a not-to-exceed $41,500,000 undefinitized contract action for the procurement and modification of four intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft, training and spares in support of the counterterrorism efforts in Yemen. Work will be performed at Waco, and is expected to be completed by Sept. 30, 2015. This award is the result of a sole-source acquisition, and is 100 percent foreign military sales for Yemen. The 645 AESG, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity (FA8620-14-C-3020).

Raytheon to Provide P-8A Radar Kits

Raytheon Company, McKinney, Texas, is being awarded a $50,121,721 modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract (N00019-13-C-0161) to exercise an option for the procurement of 16 APY-10 radar kits for full-rate initial production Lot I P-8A Poseidon aircraft. In addition, this option provides for installation and checkout technical support, configuration management, reliability and maintainability failure reporting and corrective actions, engineering change orders/proposals, integrated logistics support, technical data and repair. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.

Arete Associates to Support Coastal Reconnaissance System

Arete Associates, Tucson, Ariz., was awarded a $10,228,983 cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to previously awarded contract (N6133-11-C-0007) for Coastal Battlefield Reconnaissance and Analysis (COBRA) Program Systems Support for the AN/DVS-1 COBRA Block 1 System and support equipment. The primary mission of AN/DVS-1 COBRA is to conduct unmanned aerial tactical reconnaissance in littoral battlespace for detection and localization of mine fields and obstacles in the surf zone and beach zone. SAIC to continues Angel Fire and Blue Devil Support in Afghanistan

Science Applications International Corp., McLean, Va., has been awarded a not-to-exceed $30 million modification (P00038) to an undefinitized contractual action (FA8650-10-C-1887) for operations and maintenance (O&M) of Angel Fire Spiral 2+ Blue Devil Block I. Work will be performed in Afghanistan. The total cumulative face value of the contract is $243,484,412. The contract modification is for the Blue Devil Block 1 outside the continental United States O&M program, which will provide operational mission support of deployed warfighters with an advanced multi-intelligence, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance sensor system. This additional work reflects the extension of the program up to six months. Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity.  

Northrop to Research Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Solutions

Northrop Grumman Information Systems, Herndon, Va., is being awarded a $40,500,000 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for research, development, enhancement, integration, deployment and sustainment the secure access baseline for the EnterpRise multi-level access solutions for the Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency, Department of Homeland Security, Defense Intelligence Agency, and other intelligence community and Defense Department customers. The contracting activity is Air Force Research Laboratory, Rome, N.Y.

Airtec to Provide ISR Support to U.S. Army Southern Command

Airtec Inc., California, Md., is being awarded a $12,500,000 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) services in support of the Army's Southern Command (SOUTHCOM). The contractor will provide ISR services utilizing two contractor-owned, contractor-operated aircraft, with government furnished property previously installed on the aircraft. The Naval Air Warfare Center, Lakehurst, N.J., is the contracting activity.

Northrop Grumman to Provide ASIP Spare Hardware

Northrop Grumman Space and Missions Systems Corporation, San Jose, California, is being awarded a $10,360,820 firm-fixed-price modification contract to procure spare hardware to support the Airborne Sigint Intelligence Payload Increment 1 software development task. A total of 26 unique spare items are to be procured. The hardware is required to repair and maintain lab and flight test support equipment during the Increment 1 development effort and future upgrade programs. Reconnaissance Systems Wing, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity.
