Fortress Technologies has won a contract from the Department of Energy Savannah River National Laboratory to develop a series of 802.11 wireless network components. Under the terms of the agreement, the company will produce components that can be integrated into a layered solution to meet National Security Agency security requirements mandated for classified wireless data transmission up to the secret level. Fortress products supporting this effort include the FC-X Security Controller, ES520 Secure Wireless Bridge and ES210 Tactical Mesh Point.
Fortress Technologies has joined with Telos Corporation to support the implementation of the Defense Department's Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) identity protection and management programs. Fortress will provide its Fortress Secure Wireless Bridges, which will enable a secure wireless link between handheld devices and a DMDC database. The devices will be used at U.S. military checkpoints worldwide to provide real-time authorization for active duty military personnel, Defense Department civilian employees, eligible contractors and selected others. The one-year contract has a potential value of $582 million with four one-year options.
