United Launch Services Receives $398 Million

United Launch Services LLC, Littleton, Colorado, is being awarded a $398 million firm-fixed-price contract for Atlas V EELV launch service in support of a Mobile User Objective System-4 mission and Delta IV EELV launch service in support of a Global Positioning System mission. Space and Misssile Systems Center, El Segundo, California, is the contracting activity.

Lockheed Martin to Support GPS On-orbital Operations

Lockheed Martin Corporation, Newtown, Pennsylvania, is being awarded an $8,403,514 fixed-price incentive firm contract for on-orbital operations support of the GPS IIR/IIR-M satellite constellation. Support to be provided will be daily technical support, data evaluation and trending, anomaly resolution, spacecraft processor software maintenance and continuing space segment to the control segment interface. Under a separate $8,403,514 contract announced the same day, the company will provide daily technical support, data evaluation and continuing space segment to the control segment interface. Space and Missile Systems Center, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, is the contracting activity.

Honeywell to Provide GPS Technologies

Honeywell International Incorporated, Defense and Space Electronic Systems, Clearwater, Florida, is being awarded a $80,228,616.not-to-exceed firm-fixed-price to acquire Global Position System/Inertial Navigation System production units for the AH-64, AB3, UH-60, CH-47, SPN-46, E-2, and UH-1 platforms for the Army, Navy, and Foreign Military Sales requirements. Aeronautical Systems Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity.

SAIC's GPS Contract Extended

Raytheon to Develop Penetrating Weapon System Technology

Raytheon Company, El Segundo, California, is being awarded an $11 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for robust navigation technology supporting anti-jam Global Positioning System (GPS) development for the High Velocity Penetrating Weapon Program. The objective of this program is to study, investigate, simulate, develop, design, build, and demonstrate technologies capable of operating in a GPS degraded environment. This effort shall provide enough design flexibility to allow for integration with other advanced technologies to help maintain position, navigation, and timing when GPS is denied. U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, is the contracting activity.

Raytheon to Add Element to GPS Next Generation Control Center

Raytheon Intelligence and Information Systems, Aurora, Colorado, is being awarded a $29,999,998 cost-plus-incentive-fee and cost-plus-award-fee contract for the Launch and Checkout System. This is an additional element added to the Global Positioning System (GPS) Next Generation Operational Control System. The Launch and Checkout System is necessary to support the launch of the GPS III Space Vehicle I, which includes support exercises, rehearsals, launch, early orbit and checkout. Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles Air Force Base, California, is the contracting activity.

BAE Awarded Trinity Program Contract for Navigation Warfare Sensor

BAE Systems Information and Electronics of Nashua, New Hampshire, is being awarded a $47 million indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity cost plus fixed fee contract for the Trinity program, which seeks to develop a navigation warfare sensor that could replace traditional Global Positioning System receivers on a variety of Department of Defense platforms resulting in a significant increase in the number of future weapon systems operating in highly challenged electromagnetic environments having the capability to support Electronic Support operations as a part of planned missions. Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright-Patterson Air Force base, Ohio is the contracting activity.

Boeing GPS Sustainment Contract Modified

The Boeing Company, Seal Beach, California, is being awarded an approximate $16 million contract modification to the existing Boeing IIF sustainment contract for the Global Positioning System (GPS). This contract action will provide fiscal 2011 funding for four sustainment contract line item numbers, to include sustainment, contractor software maintenance, sustainment engineering, and technical management agency support; and two space vehicle contract line item numbers to include launch operations support and on-orbit operations support. Covia Labs to Research Homeland Security Communications

Covia Labs Incorporated, Mountain View, California, recently announced that it has received a contract from the U.S Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate's Small Business Innovation Research program to research and develop public safety mobile broadband applications for mission critical voice communications. Under the contract, Covia will develop a plan and deliver software technology that leverages long-term evolution (LTE), existing communications systems, and Covia Labs' Connector interoperability platform to address these requirements. In future phases, this software can be used to build a working system that will operate over LTE on selected commercially available off-the-shelf, third-party communications equipment and land mobile radio systems to allow the seamless integration of mobile voice with text, photos, video messaging, Global Positioning System, maps and sensors across a wide range of devices.
