U.S. Army Procures Counter-IED Systems

Sierra Nevada Corp., Sparks, Nev. was awarded a sole-source $46,500,000 cost-plus-fixed-fee multi-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for dismounted counter radio-controlled, improvised explosive device, electronic warfare spares and services to sustain the Thor III and Baldr CREW systems. Army Contracting Command, Picatinny Arsenal, N.J., is the contracting activity (W15QKN-14-D-0041).

General Atomics Awarded $141 Million for Ground Control Station

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc., Poway, Calif., has been awarded a $141,444,171 delivery order (0089) to contract (FA8620-10-G-3038) to accomplish non-recurring engineering development of the Block 50 ground control stations (GCS) and production of two system test and qualification system integration laboratories (SIL), one technical order development SIL, two fixed GCS, two mobile GCS, two software developer kits, and the associated spares for the Block 50 configuration. Block 50 includes the updated design goals from the legacy GCS of creating an ergonomic crew workstation, enhancing situational awareness, and reducing or eliminating known deficiencies in legacy GCS. Block 50 includes the installation and integration of six 24 inches touchscreen displays, an enhanced heads-up display, primary control display, F-16 modeled stick and throttle, and new control panels that provide one touch access to critical and common functions. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity.

Alion Awarded Counter-IED Contract

Alion Science and Technology, McLean, Va., has been awarded a $17.7 million task order to provide the Defense Department with engineering and science and technology expertise to help defeat improvised explosive device (IED) threats against troops in theater and throughout the world. Alion will support conception, prototyping, improving and experimenting with technologies, devices and systems, bringing next-generation capabilities to counter IED hazards. This includes improving warfighters’ situational awareness, enabling soldiers to better identify, defeat and bypass explosive threats.

Lockheed Martin Supports Radar Fleet

Lockheed Martin, Liverpool, N.Y., was awarded a $9,085,206 modification (P00092) to contract W15P7T-06-C-T004 for interim contractor services required to continue support of the AN/TPQ-53 radar fleet. Army Contracting Command, Aberdeen, Md., is the contracting activity.

Thales Awarded Helmet Mounted Display Contract

Thales Defense & Security Inc., Clarksburg, Md., is being awarded a $38,527,000 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for Optimized Top Owl (OTO) Helmet Mounted Sight and Display (HMSD) Sustainment Capability services for the H-1 Aircraft program. This contract includes the facility, labor, materials, parts, test and tooling equipment required for the OTO repair capabilities transition plan from Bordeaux, France to the United States. In addition, this contract includes all maintenance, support activities, repairs, calibrations and technical data required to return the OTO HMSD associated items to a ready for issue condition. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, N.J., is the contracting activity (N68335-14-D-0014).

Savi to Provide Radio Frequency Identification Technology

Savi Technology Inc., Alexandria, Va., was awarded a $102 million firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for Active Radio Frequency Identification hardware, software, documentation, and incidental services to authorized government users worldwide. Incidental services include training, warranty, and technical engineering services. Funding and work performance locations will be determined with each order. Army Contracting Command, Rock Island Arsenal, Ill., is the contracting activity (W52P1J-14-D-0014).

Aerojet to Develop Miniature Satellite Propulsion System

Aerojet Rocketdyne, Sacramento, Calif., has been awarded a contract from the Flight Opportunities Program Office at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Test Center to develop propulsion technology for miniature satellites that could possibly lower cost and accelerate mission schedules. Under the first phase of the contract, Aerojet Rocketdyne will develop and perform hot-fire tests on its MPS-120 CubeSat High-Impulse Adaptable Modular Propulsion System. If selected for a flight demonstration in a second phase, the MPS-120 would be the first chemical propulsion system ever used on a CubeSat.

Kratos Supports Target Tracking and Control System

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions Inc., San Diego, Calif., recently announced its Micro Systems Inc. subsidiary recently received a contract modification from the U.S. Army valued at up to $6.64 million for additional engineering services option hours in support of the Target Tracking and Control System (TTCS), Target Interface Control Units (TICU) and associated ancillary equipment. Under the modification for additional option hours, Micro Systems may be issued option exercise modifications to provide engineering services to develop upgrades to the US Army TTCS, TICU, and associated ancillary equipment.
