Beefing Up the Apache Helicopter

The latest version of the Apache Block III attack helicopter, the AH-64E, was approved for full rate production in October 2012. Improvements to the aircraft include an Improved Drive System, increased engine capabilities, technologically advanced composite main rotor blades and sensor enhancements. U.S. Army Extends Information Infrastructure Modernization Contract

Savantage Financial Services Inc., Rockville, Md., was awarded a $9,500,000 time-and-material contract modification to extend support services to Program Manager for Installation Information Infrastructure Modernization Program for an additional six months. The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Alexandria, Va., is the contracting activity. 
 

Northrop Grumman to Shrink Precision Targeting Devices

The U.S. Army has awarded a contract to Northrop Grumman, Apopka, Fla., to supply Hand Held Precision Targeting Devices (HHPTDs). The HHPTD is an advanced targeting system weighing less than 5.5 pounds and providing a greater degree of precision than previous systems. To supply the accurate information needed on the modern battlefield, the device incorporates a celestial navigation module. Devices such as the HHPTD allow forces on the ground to relay accurate targeting data to aircraft and command centers. Under the terms of the $9.2 million contract, Northrop Grumman will supply the systems over a three-year period.

Northrop Grumman to Modernize U.S. Army Training Centers

The U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation has awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation, Herndon, Va., a six-year contract to modernize the existing instrumentation systems at the National Training and the Joint Readiness Training centers. Northrop Grumman will modernize the range data measurement system and observer controller communication system portions of the range communication system at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, Calif. The company also will modernize the observer controller communication system and range data measurement system at the Joint Readiness Training Center in Fort Polk, La.
