General Atomics to Develop Lynx Radar for Reaper

General Atomics - Aeronautical Systems Inc., Poway, Calif., has been awarded a $12,844,738 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for the MQ-9 stationary targeting improvements. This contract action is for the development and delivery of an improved targeting capability with the Lynx synthetic aperture radar (SAR) on the MQ-9 platform to allow for a more streamlined approach to targeting and quicker decision making by the crew. This effort also builds a certifiable Lynx SAR community sensor model (CSM) in order to allow for future implementation in the full MQ-9 CSM effort as well as a trade study to identify a format for encoding SAR imagery and moving target indicator data within the MQ-9 architecture that enables a common digital video format. Northrop Grumman Awarded Global Hawk Support Funds

Northrop Grumman Corp., Aerospace Systems Sector, San Diego, Calif., has been awarded a $169,851,218 (estimated) cost-plus-fixed-fee modification (PZ0001) on a definitization of an undefinitized contract action (FA8528-13-C-0005) for contract logistics support for the RQ-4 Global Hawk. The contractor shall provide all logistics support activities, which includes fielded air vehicles, engines, payloads, ground segments and support segments. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Robins Air Force Base, Ga., is the contracting activity.

Northrop Grumman’s BAMS-D Contract Modified

Northrop Grumman Corp., San Diego, Calif., is being awarded a not-to-exceed $9,981,663 modification to a previously awarded cost-plus-fixed-fee contract (N00019-12-C-0117) for additional operations and maintenance services in support of the Broad Area Maritime Surveillance - Demonstrator, Unmanned Aircraft System, also known as the Global Hawk Maritime - Demonstrator. The services include manpower to increase BAMS-D operational tempo from the current nine maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions per month to a sustained level of 15 missions per month. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity.
 

U.S. Army Modifies Switchblade Contract

General Atomics Awarded Gray Eagle Funds

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc., Poway, Calif., was awarded a cost-plus-fixed-fee, option-eligible, non-multi-year, contract modification (P00094) of $11,423,474.37 with a cumulative maximum value of $156,370,264 in exercise of its option for additional engineering services for the MQ-1C Gray Eagle unmanned aircraft systems program. The US Army Contracting Command—Redstone Arsenal (Aviation), Redstone, Ala., is the contracting activity (W58RGZ-09-C-0136).

Four Firms Awarded UCLASS Contracts

Northrop Grumman Systems Corp., El Segundo, Calif., (N00019-13-C-0140), Lockheed Martin Corp., Palmdale, Calif., (N00019-13-C-0141), The Boeing Co., St. Louis, Mo., (N00019-13-C-0142), and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc., Poway, Calif., (N00019-13-C-0143) are each being awarded a $15 million firm-fixed-price contract for a preliminary design review assessment for the Unmanned Carrier Launched Airborne Surveillance and Strike (UCLASS) Air Vehicle. The objective of the UCLASS system is to enhance aircraft carrier/air wing operations by providing a responsive, world-wide presence via an organic, sea-based Unmanned Aerial System, with persistent intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and targeting, and strike capabilities. Multiple Firms to Support Unmanned Systems

(N00421-13-D-0010); Booz Allen Hamilton Engineering Services LLC, Annapolis, Md. (N00421-13-D-0011); Coherent Technical Services Inc., Lexington Park, Md. (N00421-D-13-0012); Engility Corp., Chantilly, Va. (N00421-13-D-0013), and Sierra Nevada Corp., Sparks, Nev. (N00421-13-D-0013) are each being awarded a cost-plus-fixed-fee multiple award contract for the procurement of systems engineering support for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Department, Aircraft Control Systems Division. These services will provide engineering support to developmental programs such as the Joint Precision Approach and Landing Systems, the Navy Unmanned Combat Aerial Systems, the Unmanned Carrier-Launched Airborne Surveillance and Strike, Broad Area Maritime Surveillance, War Fighter Networking, Unmanned Aircraft System/Ground Based Sense and Avoid and Automated Aerial Refueling Support. The aggregate not-to-exceed amount for these contracts is $243,105,875 and the companies will have the opportunity to compete on individual task orders. General Atomics to Extend Reaper Range

Insitu Supports RQ-21 Integrator Unmanned System

Insitu Inc., Bingen, Wash., is being awarded an $8,528,000 firm-fixed-price delivery order against a previously issued basic ordering agreement (N00019-12-G-0008) to address hardware obsolescence issues and align two previously delivered early operational capability RQ-21A small tactical unmanned aircraft systems to the current system configuration. This delivery order provides for hardware upgrades as well as field service representatives and instructors to ensure a seamless transition. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity. 

General Atomics Awarded MQ-9 Technology Insertion Contract

General Atomics-Aeronautical Systems, Inc., Poway, Calif., has been awarded a $39,455,726 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for the MQ-9 Technology Insertion Technical Solution. This contract action will modify MQ-9 Block 5, Ground Control Station (GCS) Block 30 and GCS Block 50 as required to enable integration and testing of the tech insertion capability. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Medium Altitude Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity.
