U.S. Army Procures Shadow Launchers from AAI Corporation

Boeing Supports U.S. Marines with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles

The Boeing Company, St. Louis, Missouri, is being awarded a $14 million contract modification for additional persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle services in support of U.S. Marine Corps combat missions. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.

AeroVironment Receives Order for Raven Unmanned Aircraft Systems

AeroVironment Incorporated recently announced that it received an order valued at about $46 million under an existing contract with the U.S. Army. The order comprises 123 new digital Raven small, unmanned aircraft systems and initial spares packages as well as 186 digital retrofit kits for the U.S. Marine Corps. The order also includes 339 digital retrofit kits for the U.S. Army. The Raven system and retrofit order represents the remainder of the funds appropriated for RQ-11B Raven system procurement in the 2010 Department of Defense Appropriations Act, which was signed into law in December 2009.

AAI Corporation Receives $35 Million Shadow Contract Modification

AAI Corporation, Hunt Valley, Maryland, recently received a $35 million contract modification to complete the fiscal 2011 performance-based logistics contract for the Shadow unmanned aircraft system and a service effort for four government-owned, contractor operated teams to operate and maintain the Shadow unmanned aircraft system in support of Operation New Dawn/Operation Enduring Freedom. U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity.

Northrop Grumman to Provide Prototype Pod-Mounted MQ-9 Reaper

Northrop Grumman Space and Missions Systems Corporation, San Jose, California, recently received two MQ-9 Reaper awards. The first is a contract valued at more than $23 million, which provides for the design and build of a pod-mounted prototype for the MQ-9 platform. The second is a contract modification, for which more than $5 million has been obligated. Under the modification, Northrop Grumman will provide for a prototype sensor for the MQ-9 installed in a pod to support a limited flight demonstration of the Airborne Signals Intelligence Payload-2 functionally. The contractor shall support the General Atomics effort to certify the pod for airworthiness on the MQ-9. Aeronautical Systems Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is the contracting activity.

AeroVironment Supports Puma Unmanned Aircraft

AeroVironment Incorporated, Simi Valley, California, was recently awarded a $17 million contract that establishes not-to-exceed amounts for Puma all-environment capable variant contractor logistics support, training and accounting for contract services in support of Joint Urgent Operational Need Statement CC-0289, entitled, "Unmanned Aircraft Systems for Route Clearance."  U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity.

TeleCommunications Systems to Provide 3-Dimensional Mapping Technology

TeleCommunication Systems Incorporated recently announced that it has been awarded a new order with a ceiling value of more than $9 million to provide 3-dimensional terrain mapping software and database models as well as training and exercises to the U.S. Army. The order is funded by the Program Executive Office Aviation and relates to the continued supply of equipment to the Unmanned Aerial System Project Office and the Small Unmmanned Aerial Vehicle Product Office. This award was made under the Army's $5 billion World-Wide Satellite Systems contract vehicle in support of the Project Manager for the Warfighter Information Network-Tactical.
