Lockheed Martin Corporation, Marietta, Georgia, recently received a $16 million contract for the development, integration, and testing activities of the first C-5 block upgrade program 01 for those aircraft modified by the avionics modernization program. This portion of the upgrade program is to establish a common software baseline between the two programs and install a third core processing module.

Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, Sunnyvale, California, was awarded a $1 billion contract modification to provide for the production of the fourth Advanced Extremely High Frequency Satellite Vehicle 4 (SV4). In addition to delivery of the space vehicle, this effort includes SV4 unique systems engineering; system level factory test; system database management functions; systems level support equipment; and program management. Northrop Grumman Space and Mission Systems Incorporated, San Diego, California, was awarded a $74 million contract modification to provide for rapid fielding of expanded Battlefield Airborne Communications Node capability in support of overseas contingency operations. It executes an option for continued maintenance and support of the payload installed in two of three modified BD-700 Global Express aircraft leased from March 2011 through October 2011. Alenia North America has been awarded an approximately $4 million contract by the United States Air Force to provide training of pilots, loadmasters and maintenance personnel on the C-27/G.222 tactical transport aircraft for the Afghanistan Air Force. This is a follow-on contract to a previous contract with the U.S. Air Force, which had three training classes on the C-27/G.222. This new contract will consist of four training classes over the next year. In 2008, the company received a contract to supply 18 refurbished C-27/G.222 aircraft for the Afghanistan Air Force.
