NASA Awards In-Space Robotics Servicing Contract to Lockheed Martin

NASA has awarded a sole-source contract to Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, Greenbelt, Maryland, for Systems Engineering for In-Space Servicing. This 18-month contract has a value of $31 million. Lockheed Martin will provide systems and discipline engineering support to develop and execute two demonstrations to test and verify new robotic servicing capabilities using the Dextre robot aboard the International Space Station. The Canadian Space Agency's Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator, or Dextre, is a two-armed robotic system designed to perform intricate maintenance and servicing tasks, which previously would have required spacewalks.

Harris Receives Potential $475 Million International Order for Radio Systems

Harris Corporation has been awarded a potential $475 million order to supply military and land mobile radio systems to international partners of the U.S. State Department and U.S. Department of Defense. The five-year contract was awarded by the U.S. Army's Communications Electronics Command and covers the Harris RF Falcon II and Falcon III radio portfolio Multiband Networking, and RF-7800S Secure Personal radios, as well as public safety and professional communications land mobile radios.

ARTEL Receives First Award Under Future Satellite Communications Contract

ARTEL Incorporated recently received the first contract award to provide satellite services under a new $5 billion General Services Administration and Defense Information Services Agency joint-contract vehicle. The order, which is worth tens of millions of dollars, was awarded under the Future Commercial Satellite Communications (COMSATCOM) Services Acquisition (FCSA) contract, under the GSA schedule, to provide transponded capacity and subscription services.

Lockheed Martin Supports Taiwan's P-3C Aircraft

Lockheed Martin Corporation, Maritime Systems and Sensors Tactical Systems, Eagan, Minnesota, is being awarded a more than $47 million contract modification for mission system spares required for the initial outfitting of new avionics components for 12 P-3C aircraft for the government of Taiwan under the Foreign Military Sales program. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, New Jersey, is the contracting activity.

CACI to Train Mobilizing Soldiers

CACI Incorporated, Chantilly, Virginia, was recently awarded an $8 million contract to provide simulation-supported battle command staff training exercises for pre- and post-mobilizing soldiers. The U.S. Army Mission and Installation Contracting Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, is the contracting activity.

General Dynamics Awarded $122 Million Task Order to Support U.S. Army Europe

General Dynamics Information Technology, Fairfax, Virginia, has recently been awarded a $122 million task order under the Alliant contract to provide information technology support to U.S. Army Europe (USAREUR) headquarters, Heidelberg, Germany, and its associated staff elements and organizations as part of the USAREUR Theater Warfighter Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence program. The majority of work will be performed at the USAREUR headquarters, at other sites within Germany and at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo. The company will provide systems engineering, network integration and configuration, Battle Command Systems support, information technology knowledge management, Microsoft SharePoint support, video teleconferencing and web development. The company will also perform logistics, training, planning and exercises support.

DARPA Awards Technology Evaluation Contract to Alion

Alion Science and Technology, McLean, Virginia was recently awarded a more than $4 million contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to evaluate a revolutionary technology that will enable troops deployed around the world to improve how they record and analyze information obtained while on patrol. Alion will provide performance evaluations on the Graph Understanding and Analysis for Rapid Detection-Deployed On the Ground (GUARD DOG) program, which is designed to assist patrollers as they conduct counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism and counter-drug missions. The work includes experimental designs, test plans, data collection instruments and software, virtual simulations, training scenarios, evaluation results and analysis briefings for major test events.

DCS Awarded $191 Million Technical Engineering Services Contract

DCS Corporation, Alexandria, Virginia, was awarded a $191 million contract to provide for technical engineering services, including post-production software support, lifecycle software engineering to program managers in the acquisition and development of main weapon systems platforms, and systems engineering on project within Tank-Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center. The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command, Warren, Michigan, is the contracting activity.

Mission 1st Group Receives Information Technology Oversight Contract

Mission 1st Group Incorporated, Shrewsbury, New Jersey, was awarded a $3 million contract to provide for engineering, logistics and oversight of information technology projects in Southwest Asia and within the United States. Work will be performed in Afghanistan; Kuwait; Iraq; Fort Belvoir, Virginia; and Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. The U.S. Army Rock Island Contracting Command, Rock Island, Illinois, is the contracting activity.

Corps of Engineers Awards Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Contract

Science Applications International Corporation, McLean, Virginia, was awarded a $10 million contract to provide airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. Work will be performed in McLean, Virginia, with an estimated completion date of June 30, 2012. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, Vicksburg, Mississippi, is the contracting activity.
