DRS Receives Gigabit Ethernet Multiplex System Contract for U.S. Navy, Australia

DRS ICAS Limited Liability Company, Buffalo, New York, is being awarded a potential $20 million contract for production of AN/USQ-81(V) gigabit ethernet multiplex system (GEDMS) shipsets for new construction and in-service Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) class destroyers, an Australian land based test site, associated installation and checkout repairs, and related GEDMS hardware for Wasp (LHD 1) class and Whidbey Island (LSD 41) class ships and the AN/SPA-25 radar program. GEDMS is a mission critical ship-wide data transfer network that is a key enabler for the DDG modernization program. The network transfers inputs/outputs for the machinery control system, damage control system, steering control system, AEGIS Combat System, navigation displays, and interior communication alarms and indications. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Dahlgren, Virginia, is the contracting activity.

Insitu to Provide ScanEagle Unmanned Planes to Poland

Insitu Incorporated, Bingen, Washington, is being awarded a $7 million modification to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract for the procurement of 10 ScanEagle unmanned aerial systems for the government of Poland. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.

Draper Laboratory to Support Autonomous Undersea Vehicles

Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, Cambridge, Massachusetts, is being awarded a $13 million contract for engineering services in support of transducer and hydrophone programs. Efforts will include research and development in technology areas important to the development of autonomous undersea vehicle (AUV) capability; providing engineering expertise to program sponsors in the acquisition process; and, developing and maintaining the Naval Undersea Warfare Center's fleet of AUV testbed vehicles, facilities and related equipment. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport, Rhode Island, is the contracting activity.

BAE Systems to Provide Countermine Systems to U.S. Navy

BAE Systems, Information and Electronic Systems Integration Incorporated, Nashua, New Hampshire, is being awarded a potential $41 million contract for four high-frequency wideband AN/SQQ-32(v)4 systems and associated engineering services and support that will detect and classify bottom and moored sea mines. The AN/SQQ-32(v)4 will be deployed from carriers for self-protection. High-frequency wideband AN/SQQ-32(v)4 will replace the in-service AN/SQQ-32(v)3 detection sonar and will improve detection performance and target resolution in high clutter environments including littoral zones and confined straits. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington Navy Yard, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

Raytheon to Provide Airborne Mine Neutralization Systems

Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems, Portsmouth, Rhode Island, is being awarded a contract potentially valued at more than $24 million for seven airborne mine neutralization low-rate initial production systems and associated engineering services. The airborne mine neutralization system will explosively neutralize bottom and moored mines using an expendable mine neutralization device. The system will be deployed from the MH-60 helicopter as part of the littoral combat ship mine countermeasures mission module. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington Navy Yard, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

Neany Supports Persistent Ground Surveillance System Under $48 Million Award

Neany Incorporated, Hollywood, Maryland, is being awarded a $48 million contract for logistics support, configuration management, training, documentation, spares, and field support associated with the Persistent Ground Surveillance System Phase II for the U.S. Army. In addition, the contract provides for delivery of SkyKites and SkyKite-like aerostat systems and platforms and gondolas capable of functioning in high-density altitude environments with multiple sensors. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, New Jersey, is the contracting activity.

Rockwell to Provide Swe-Dish CCT-120 Satellite Terminals

Raytheon to Support Military Experiments Under $12 Million Contract

Raytheon BBN Technologies Corporation, Cambridge, Massachusetts, was awarded a $12 million contract modification to support the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and Army experiments at Fort Benning, Georgia, and will add the software radio waveform to the Wireless Network after Next radio. Georgia Tech Receives Nearly $15 Million Sensors and Countermeasures Contract

Georgia Tech Applied Research Corporation, Atlanta, Georgia, was awarded a nearly $15 million contract for the Advanced Airlift Tactics and Training Center sensor/countermeasures engineering and training. The U.S. Air Force 55th Contracting Squadron, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, is the contracting activity.

NASA Awards $248 Million Contract for Joint Polar Satellite System Spacecraft

NASA, on behalf of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, recently awarded a $248 million sole-source contract for the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS-1) spacecraft to Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corporation, Boulder, Colorado. Ball will design, build and test the spacecraft; integrate government-furnished instruments; integrate the satellite with the launch vehicle; and support launch operations and on-orbit checkout. The spacecraft is a clone of the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environment Satellite System Preparatory Project. JPSS-1 is expected to be ready for launch in 2014. The system includes the satellites and sensors supporting civil weather and climate measurements and a shared ground infrastructure with the Department of Defense weather satellite system.
