Navy Awards $14 Billion Contract for Eight Virginia-Class Submarines

General Dynamics' wholly owned subsidiary, Electric Boats, and its teammate, Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding, have been awarded a contract valued at $14 billion by the U.S. Navy for the construction of eight Virginia-class submarines.

McDonnell Douglas Receives Contract for Guided Vehicle Kits

McDonnell Douglas Corporation is receiving a firm-fixed-price contract from the U.S. Air Force for $107 million for 4,372 Joint Direct Attack Munition Lot 13 Guided Vehicle kits.

Nortel Selects Verizon Internet Protocol Trunking Service to Centralize Its Corporate Voice Infrastructure

Verizon Business and Nortel have reached a three-year agreement in which Nortel will evolve its traditional voice system to Verizon Internet Protocol (IP) Trunking VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) service, which is based on session initiation protocol. In addition, Verizon Business will manage Nortel's existing Verizon Private IP network, enabling Nortel to benefit from expanded managed network service capabilities and industry-leading service level agreements.

ATK and Goodrich Win Contract to Provide First Operational ORS Satellite

Alliant Techsystems and Goodrich ISR Systems Division were awarded a contract to produce the first operational U.S. Air Force ORS satellite, designated ORS Sat-1. The contract was awarded by the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center's Space Development and Test Wing. ATK will provide the spacecraft bus systems to Goodrich, which, as the satellite prime contractor, will integrate them with its payload.

Bath Iron Works Awarded $46 Million Contract for DDG 1000 Services

Bath Iron Works, a subsidiary of General Dynamics, has been awarded a $45.8 million contract option from the U.S. Navy to provide services associated with the detail design and construction of the DDG 1000 Zumwalt-class destroyer. Bath Iron Works will continue to provide services for the DDG 1000 program, including configuration management and maintenance of class design products; program management; configuration and data management; system and ship integration services; production engineering services; and ship system segment management.

Cubic Receives $10 Million Contract to Help Develop New Military Test Range Instrumentation

Cubic Defense Applications, the defense systems subsidiary of Cubic Corporation, has received a contract valued at over $10 million from Rockwell Collins for Phase 1 of the Common Range Integrated Instrumentation System (CRIIS) program. CRIIS will replace the aging Advanced Range Data System currently in use at major U.S. Air Force, Army and Navy test ranges.

QinetiQ North America's Foster-Miller Receives Orders for TALON Robots Totaling $58.5 million

Boeing to Study ICBM Communications Security Enhancements

The Boeing Company has received a $3.7 million contract from Northrop Grumman Corporation to evaluate enhancements to communications security and replacements for data-storage media for the U.S. Air Force's Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) system. Boeing will continue to develop hardware and software for a proof-of-concept demonstration and to draft the program's requirements documentation.

General Dynamics Awards Electronic Warfare Subsystem Contract to Lockheed Martin

General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems has awarded Lockheed Martin MS2 a contract valued at up to $36 million, including options for development and procurement of the High Gain, High Sensitivity (HGHS) subsystem. General Dynamics will integrate the HGHS subsystem into the U.S. Navy's Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program Block 1B3 upgrade, which currently is in development. Lockheed Martin will develop and procure the HGHS subsystem, including the topside antenna systems and the below-decks signal processor as well as the processing algorithms that accompany the processor.

McDonnell Douglas Awarded Contract for Weapon Systems

McDonnell Douglas Corporation has been awarded a firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract by the U.S. Air Force for $96 million. This action will provide small diameter bomb aircraft weapon systems on various objective aircraft.
