Insitu Receives $43 Million Unmanned Aircraft System Contract

Insitu, Inc., Bingen, Washington, was recently awarded a contract valued at more than $43 million for the engineering, manufacture and development of the small tactical unmanned aircraft system/Tier II unmanned aircraft system III for the U.S. Marine Corps. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, New Jersey, is the contracting activity.

Daylight Defense Receives Quantum Cascade Laser Research and Development Contract

Daylight Defense, LLC, Poway, California, has been awarded more than $5 million to perform efforts associated with research into and development of quantum cascade laser demonstrator units for emerging directional infrared countermeasure systems for use against terrorist attacks.  The Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.

Boeing Provides F/A-18 Data Link Kits to U.S. Navy, Royal Australian Air Force

The Boeing Co., St. Louis, Missouri, is being awarded an $11 million firm-fixed-price order against a previously issued basic ordering agreement for the procurement of 889 Rover data link kits, 837 for the Navy and 52 for the Royal Australian Air Force, in support of engineering change proposal #6342 for the F/A-18E/F advanced targeting forward-looking infrared upgrade.  The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.

ASSETT Receives Potential $59 Million Combat System of the Future Research and Development Contract

ASSETT, Inc., Manassas, Virginia, is being awarded more than $14 million for a Phase III Small Business Innovative Research program entitled "Combat System of the Future," to perform research, development and engineering services.  This contract includes options, which if exercised, would bring the total value of the contract to more than $59 million.  The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington Navy Yard, District of Columbia, is the contracting activity.

Harris Receives More Than $78 Million FMS Order from Philippines

Harris Corp., Rochester, New York, was awarded a $78.5 million contract for Foreign Military Sales of radio base stations, vehicle mounts, and man packs to the government of the Philippines.  The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command Acquisition Center, Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, is the contracting activity.

ViaSat Receives $37 Million Blue Force Tracking Conract from U.S. Army

ViaSat, Inc., Carlsbad, California, was recently awarded a $37.6 million firm-fixed-price contract to provide blue force tracking 2 (BFT-2) for Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below (FBCB2).  BFT-2 is the next generation of the BFT transceiver/network. With BFT-2, FBCB2 will have the capability to upgrade position reports in seconds rather than minutes, thousands of platforms will share a single satellites channel, resulting in reduced recurring cost, and icons on a computer screen will more accurately represent a vehicle's location. U.S. Army Communications and Electronics Command Acquisition Center, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, is the contracting activity.

Northrop Grumman to Revitalize Hunter UAS in Support of War Effort

Northrop Grumman Systems Corp., Technical Services, Inc., Sierra Vista, Arizona, was recently awarded a $47 million cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to provide capability-based rotations support for Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom and revitalization for the Hunter unmanned aircraft system.  Aviation & Missile Command Contracting Center, Redstone Arsenal, Ala., is the contracting activity.

Northrop Grumman Receives $136 Million Contract for Additional Hawkeye

Northrop Grumman Corp., Bethpage, New York, is being awarded an undefinitized modification to a previously awarded fixed-price-incentive-fee contract for the procurement of one additional E-2D Advanced Hawkeye low-rate initial production Lot 2 aircraft.  The not-to-exceed price for the additional aircraft is $136 million.  The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.

iRobot to Deliver MTRS to U.S. Navy Under $20 Million Contract

iRobot Corp., Bedford, Massachusetts, is being awarded a $20 million firm-fixed-price contract for the procurement of Man Transportable Robotic System production systems, depot level repair parts, spare kits, and depot repair services.  Explosive ordnance disposal technicians use the small robotic vehicle to conduct remote reconnaissance, render safe and/or dispose of explosive devices.  The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division, Indian Head, Maryland, is the contracting activity.

WestWind Technologies Wins $376 Million U.S. Army Contract to Provide MRAP Digital Backbone Kits

WestWind Technologies Inc., has been awarded a multi-year contract valued at $376 million to supply Digital Backbone Kits to the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive Life Cycle Management Command for the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle program. WestWind will supply the command, control, communications and computer, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance digital backbone B-kits in production quantities and package them for integration onto the vehicles.
