Lockheed Martin Receives Trident II Shipboard Systems Integration Contract

Lockheed Martin Mission Systems & Sensors, Mitchel Field, New York, is being awarded a U.S. Navy contract potentially valued at nearly $230 million to provide Trident II (D5) strategic systems programs shipboard systems integration; strategic weapon system navigation subsystem; systems design and development; and electrostatically supported gyro navigator refresh.  The Strategic Systems Programs, Arlington, Virginia, is the contracting activity.

NASA Selects AeroTech to Quantify Benefits of Advanced Weather Avoidance Systems

AeroTech Research Inc., has been awarded a NASA Small Business Innovative Research contract to develop a software toolset that quantifies the beneficial effects of equipping aircraft with improved weather avoidance technologies.  The Advanced Weather Avoidance Requirements Evaluation software will allow airlines and avionics manufacturers to quantify costs and benefits of implementing technologies that reduce the impact that severe weather can have on aircraft operations.

ViaSat Receives $477 Million Blue Force Tracking Contract

ViaSat has announced a $477 million U.S. Army contract to supply the next generation of high-speed, high-capacity, low-latency Blue Force Tracking equipment as part of the Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below Program.

L-3 Communications to Provide Encryption System Kits

L-3 Communications System West, Salt Lake City, Utah, was recently awarded a $17 million contract for 345 Type II interim encryption system kits in various configurations.  U.S. Army Contracting Command, Aviation & Missile Command Contracting Center, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity.

John Hopkins Receives $147 Million for Technical Support

John Hopkins University/Applied Physics Laboratory, Laurel, Maryland, is being awarded a $147 million ceiling increase to a previously awarded contract to continue work on advanced technology initiatives by providing technical support to systems engineering and integration for assessments, studies and analyses of command and control, battles management and communications, fire control, missile engineering, combat systems, space component and space systems.  The Missile Defense Agency is the contracting activity.

Northrop Grumman, SAIC to Support Enhanced Tactical Automated Security System

Northrop Grumman Space & Mission Systems Corp., Herndon, Virginia, and Science Applications International Corp., McLean, Virginia, are each being awarded contracts for support services for Enhanced Tactical Automated Security System surveillance, detection and assessment equipment, site surveys, integration, installation and technical support.  If all options are exercised, the contracts will be valued at more than $37 million. The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic, Charleston, South Carolina, is the contracting activity.

LRAD to Provide Integrated Acoustic Hailing Devices to U.S. Navy

LRAD Corp., San Diego, California, is being awarded a $6 million contract for integrated acoustic hailing devices, remotely controlled components of the shipboard protection system that provides a key capability to instruct, warn and deter approaching threats.  Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, Indiana, is the contracting activity.

Insitu Receives $43 Million Unmanned Aircraft System Contract

Insitu, Inc., Bingen, Washington, was recently awarded a contract valued at more than $43 million for the engineering, manufacture and development of the small tactical unmanned aircraft system/Tier II unmanned aircraft system III for the U.S. Marine Corps. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, New Jersey, is the contracting activity.

Daylight Defense Receives Quantum Cascade Laser Research and Development Contract

Boeing Provides F/A-18 Data Link Kits to U.S. Navy, Royal Australian Air Force

The Boeing Co., St. Louis, Missouri, is being awarded an $11 million firm-fixed-price order against a previously issued basic ordering agreement for the procurement of 889 Rover data link kits, 837 for the Navy and 52 for the Royal Australian Air Force, in support of engineering change proposal #6342 for the F/A-18E/F advanced targeting forward-looking infrared upgrade.  The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.
