(STEM) Majors Scholarship

Graduate and Technical Certification Students

                                      

 

New STEM Major Application!
(Important information below)

For the 2013-2014 Academic Year, the application for scholarships supporting graduate and technical certification STEM majors has been combined into one STEM Major Application. Applicants will complete the STEM Major Application and send in supporting documents only once, but will be considered for all AFCEA STEM Major scholarship opportunities for which they are qualified.  Online programs are eligible.

The scholarships are sponsored in part by generous contributions from Booz Allen Hamilton and CSC Defense Group.

Scholarships awarded from the STEM Major Application for graduate and/or technical certification students include:

- Ralph W. Shrader Diversity Graduate Scholarship

- CSC Defense Graduate Scholarship

- CSC Technical Certification Scholarship

 

   Eligibility:

NOTE:  U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants.

Graduate Students

Qualifying STEM Majors include: electrical, computer, chemical, systems, or aerospace engineering; computer science; computer information systems; technology management; management information systems; physics; mathematics; bioinformatics; or other majors related to the mission of AFCEA.

Graduate applicants must be enrolled full-time in a graduate degree-granting program at an accredited university in the United States.  A 3.0 overall GPA is required.

Certification Students

Technical Certifications include any Cisco Certifications, Microsoft Certifications, Novell Certification, Java Certification or A+ Certification. The Scholarship can be used for a course leading to certification, a certification preparation program as in the Cisco week-long "Boot Camp Prep Course", laboratory course or a certification test fee. Courses taken from Learning Tree or any of their counterparts are considered valid courses for this scholarship.

Certification applicants must be young professionals (age 40 or under) currently employed in a field related to communications, computer science or electronics.


Important:

Graduate Students
In addition to the online application, other required documents include: current transcript issued by the school Registrar's Office and at least two letters of recommendation from relevant faculty or employer.

Certification Students 

Proof of registration (including dates of course or date when registered) must be submitted. Acceptable proofs of registration are: official course registration indicating name of applicant and the name of the institution where the certification course will be taken or a copy of the tuition bill. Proof of registration must include the name, address and phone number of the certification institution.

One Letter of Recommendation is required from institution or certification program administrator or instructor.  Copy of resume, duty description or performance review may also be submitted - electronic submission preferred.

Instructions for electronic submission of the recommendation letters will be provided to the endorsers as part of the on-line application process - please do not mail separately. Letters will be addressed to:
