AFCEA Scholarships for

War Veterans and Disabled War Veterans of

Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan

The Scholarships are made possible by generous contributions from Microsoft employees with matching funds from Microsoft, and the AFCEA Camp Pendleton and AFCEA Northern Virginia Chapters.

Merit-based scholarships of $2,500 will be awarded to honorably discharged U.S. military veterans (including Reservists and National Guard personnel) and disabled veterans of Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan and Iraqi Freedom Operations who are currently enrolled either part time or full time in an eligible degree program at an accredited two- or four-year college or university in the United States.

Candidates are asked to provide a copy of Certificate of Service, Discharge Form DD214, or facsimile of candidate's current DoD or Coast Guard Identification Card. (Please black out your Social Security Number when submitting.)

Distance-learning or online programs affiliated with a major accredited U.S. institution are eligible.

This information is in effect for the 2013-2014 school year.


Applicant must be:

  1. U.S. citizen
  2. Currently enrolled and attending either a two-year or four-year accredited college or university in the United States
  3. Qualified freshman, sophomore, junior or senior
  4. Enrolled part time or full time in an eligible degree program

Candidate must be majoring in the following or C4I-related fields of electrical, aerospace, systems or computer engineering; computer engineering technology; computer network systems; information systems security; computer information systems; information systems management; technology management; electronics engineering technology; computer science; physics; or mathematics.

Majors directly related to the support of U.S. intelligence or national security enterprises with relevance to the mission of AFCEA will also be eligible.


At least two letters of recommendation will be required from field-of-study professors. If that is not possible, we will accept recommendations from commanding officers/employers in your related field.

Instructions on electronic submission of the recommendation letters will be provided to endorsers as part of the on-line application process. Letters will be addressed to:

An official transcript reflecting all college-level study will also be required. All items must arrive by the deadline date - electronic submissions in pdf format preferred.
