AFCEA Cyber Studies & Intelligence Scholarships

   

             

Co-sponsored by Booz Allen Hamilton, Cobham Analytic Solutions,
Computer Sciences Corporation, LGS, Lockheed Martin, Mosaic, Inc., Powertek, SANS, Terremark Worldwide, Inc., AFCEA Cyber  & Intelligence Committees, AFCEA International, and the AFCEA Educational Foundation.

 

Scholarships of $5,000 will be awarded to undergraduate students pursuing academic degrees in cyber security, cyber-attack, computer science, information technology, or electronic engineering from an accredited two- or four-year college or university in the United States.*

Two scholarships of $2,250 (Undergraduate) and three scholarships of $5,000 (Graduate) each will be awarded to students enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate degree-granting program in fields directly related to the support of U.S. intelligence or homeland security enterprises, and/or foreign languages.*

Scholarships of $1,000 will be awarded to Young AFCEAN** candidates currently pursuing a DOD 8570 Certification directly related to the mission of AFCEA while employed by a small business in a cyber-related field.

*Distance-Learning or Online programs affiliated with a major U.S. institution are eligible.

**A Young AFCEAN is an AFCEA member under the age of 40.

These Cyber Studies & Intelligence Scholarships will complement the AFCEA Educational Foundation's existing academic outreach in the hard science disciplines. In conjunction with AFCEA Chapters worldwide, the AFCEA Educational Foundation annually distributes more than $2 million in grants and scholarships.

Information stated below is in effect for the 2011-2012 school year

Eligibility:

Applications are requested from qualified sophomore and junior undergraduate students and graduate students enrolled full time in an eligible degree-granting program.

Applicants must be currently enrolled at the time of application in a two-year or four-year accredited college or university in the United States.  Distance-learning programs are eligible

.Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

A minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

Candidates must be majoring in a field directly related to the support of U.S. cyber enterprises or U.S. intelligence or homeland security enterprise with relevance to the mission of AFCEA such as global security and intelligence studies, foreign languages, cyber security, cyber attack, computer science, information technology, or electronic engineering.

These are merit scholarships based on demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and financial need.

PLEASE NOTE: At least two letters of recommendation will be required from field-of-study professors or employers.

An official transcript reflecting all college-level study will also be required. All items must arrive by the deadline date - electronic submission in pdf format preferred.
