Disabled War Veterans Scholarship

ANNOUNCEMENT - April 21, 2008

The AFCEA Educational Foundation is pleased to announce the newly established Disabled War Veterans Scholarships of $2,500 each.  The Scholarships are made possible by generous contributions from Microsoft employees with matching funds from Microsoft Corporation.  Click here for Press Release.

Co-sponsored by Microsoft employees and the AFCEA Educational Foundation, the Scholarships are offered to active-duty service personnel, honorably discharged U.S. military veterans, reservists, and National Guard personnel who are disabled because of wounds received during service in Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan or Iraqi Freedom Operations. 

The Scholarship will be initially offered in fall 2008.

Information stated below is in effect for the 2008-2009 school year.


Eligibility:

Applicants must be currently enrolled and attending either a two-year or four-year accredited college or university in the United States.  Students may also be enrolled in an accredited distance-learning or online degree-granting program affiliated with a major, accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the United States.

Applications will be accepted from qualified freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior undergraduate students enrolled at the time of application either part time or full time in an eligible degree program as stated below.

Candidates must be majoring in the following or C4I-related fields of electrical, aerospace, systems or computer engineering; computer engineering technology; computer network systems; information systems security; computer information systems; information systems management; technology management; electronics engineering technology; computer science; physics; mathematics; or science or mathematics education.  Majors directly related to the support of U.S. intelligence or national security enterprises with relevance to the mission of AFCEA will also be eligible.

Primary factors considered in the selection process are demonstrated academic excellence, leadership and financial need.

PLEASE NOTE: At least two letters of recommendation printed on school stationery with signature will be required from field-of-study professors. Address to:

An official transcript reflecting all college-level study will also be required by the deadline date. These items can be sent separately but must arrive by the deadline date.
