(STEM) Majors Scholarships for

Graduate & Certification Students

Scholarships are made possible in part by

generous contributions from Booz Allen Hamilton and CSC Defense.


STEM Major Application
(Important information below)

For the 2013-2014 Academic Year, applicants will be considered for all AFCEA STEM Major scholarship opportunities for which they are qualified.  Applications will be accepted from current eligible Graduate-level or Certification Program students only.  Online programs are eligible.

Scholarships awarded for STEM Majors include:

- Ralph W. Shrader Diversity Graduate Scholarship

- CSC Defense Graduate Scholarship

- CSC Defense Technical Certification Scholarship



NOTE:  U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants.

Scholarships of varying amounts will be awarded to students studying STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) majors or related fields. Students must be attending full-time in an eligible graduate degree-granting program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Full time graduate study requires enrollment in at least two (2) semester-equivalent courses per term.

Certification applicants must be young professionals (age 40 or under) already employed in a field related to communications, computer science or electronics.  Technical Certifications include but are not limited to any Cisco Certifications, any Microsoft Certifications, Novell Certification, Java Certification, A+ Certification and InfoSec certifications.  The Scholarship can be used for a course leading to the certification, a certification preparation program as in the Cisco week-long “Boot Camp Prep Course”, laboratory course or the certification test fee.  Courses taken from Learning Tree or any of their counterparts are considered valid courses for this scholarship.

Qualifying STEM Majors include: electrical, computer, chemical, systems, or aerospace engineering; computer science; computer information systems; technology management; management information systems; physics; mathematics; bioinformatics; or other majors related to the mission of AFCEA.



In addition to the online application, other required documents include: current transcript issued by the school Registrar's Office and at least two letters of recommendation from relevant faculty.

Instructions for electronic submission of the recommendation letters will be provided to the endorsers as part of the on-line application process - please do not mail separately. Letters will be addressed to:
