AFCEA Distance Learning/
Online Scholarship

NOTE:

We regret this Scholarship has been
discontinued and will no longer be offered.

Distance-Learning programs will now be
eligible for most AFCEA Scholarships.

Scholarships of $2,000 will be awarded to full-time students pursuing either a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree by means of a distance-learning or on-line program.

The program must be affiliated with a major, accredited four-year college or university in the United States. Primary consideration will be given for academic excellence.

Eligibility:

Candidate must be a U.S. citizen currently enrolled full time. Minimum second-year students only will be accepted. Undergraduate transcripts at the time of application must reflect a one-year minimum of coursework completed based on a 30-semester hour equivalent. Classes in progress at the time of application cannot be used towards the one-year minimum completion.

Acceptable majors for both undergraduate and graduate candidates will be limited to the following or related fields of electrical, chemical, systems or aerospace engineering; mathematics; physics; science or mathematics education; technology management; or computer science. Majors directly related to the support of U.S. intelligence enterprises or national security with relevance to the mission of AFCEA will also be eligible. Full-time enrollment at the time of application is required. For programs with 6-week semester intervals, a minimum of three 3-credit hour classes must be in progress or the equivalent.

For undergraduate applicants, two semesters of calculus* must be completed (based on a 30-semester hour equivalent) and reflected on the transcript. Calculus in progress will not qualify.

* Pre-calculus will be accepted towards this requisite, depending on the major.

Graduate applicants must have completed at least one full semester of work and be enrolled full time at the time of application.

Important:

PLEASE NOTE: At least two letters of recommendation will be required, one from field-of-study professor and one from current employer or relevant public service agency.

Instructions for electronic submission will be provided to the endorsers as part of the on-line application process - please do not mail separately.  Letters will be addressed to:

Mr. Fred H. Rainbow
