DISTANCE DEFEATED – REMOTENESS IGNORED

An examination of information sharing in the battlespace

and the requirements for seamless information transfer

FOREWORD

The aim of TechNet Europe 2008 was to examine information sharing, both the theory and the practice. We examined new technologies and the challenges of information transfer, not least the electro-magnetic spectrum. We examined the commercial marketplace both in terms of hardware and software to see what can be used in the battlespace and US AFRICOM briefed on their latest activities in Session II.

The event consisted of a symposium, a network night plus a supporting exhibition that featured the latest technology trends.

The Czech Chapter of AFCEA worked with us to make sure that there was good military representation among the attendees and the Chief of General Staff gave the opening keynote address.

Yours sincerely,
