TechNet Europe 2011

"Cloud Computing and Its Use in the Defence Environment"

26 May 2011    I    Crowne Plaza Bratislava, Slovakia

There is an acceleration of cloud computing and cloud services among enterprises and an explosion of supply-side activity as technology providers manoeuvre to exploit the growing commercial opportunities.

Cloud computing fundamentally levels the playing field for enterprises of all sizes. In the past, the costs and time associated with launching a new product or service could be enough to discourage a company from even trying them. Now, for the first time, small/medium enterprises (SMEs) have access to the same high-end computing systems and applications because they don’t need to own or manage these systems themselves: they pay providers only for the resources they consume.

Against this background TechNet Europe examined the technology and the opportunities it provides, with an emphasis on how it could be applied in the NATO environment.
