Cloud computing is a paradigm shift in provisioning IT services. However, access to cloud services in Europe is still hampered by a number of uncertainties and challenges that vary from case to case. Depending on the type of data, type of service and need for control, cloud adoption may be impeded by legal, technical, operational or economic barriers.

To facilitate cloud adoption throughout Europe, AFCEA Europe and the European Security Round Table (eSRT) are sponsoring Cloud 4 Europe at the NH du Grand Sablon, Brussels, Belgium on January 27, 2015. The conference is offered jointly and in cooperation with the European Commission Directorate General CNECT.

The symposium will comprise keynote speeches, plenary sessions and workshop discussions as well as exhibits of leading-edge technology and cloud-related software applications.

WEST 2015

The Western Conference and Exposition (WEST 2015) is the largest event on the West Coast for the Sea Services and the contractors that support them. WEST 2015 participants include active duty U.S. and allied military, government, industry and academia decision-makers.  Many related technical sessions are eligible for continuing education units (CEUs) and training credits. Industry will showcase and discuss emerging technologies and equipment that will impact all areas of future Sea Service operations.  Now in its 24th year, WEST 2015 is co-sponsored by AFCEA International and the U.S. Naval Institute, both non-profit, non-lobbying membership associations.

Air Force Industry Day

February 24th, 2015

The Air Force remains committed to developing a broader relationship with industry in a “habitual dialogue”  – at every level – to improve understanding of requirements and enhance competition to build a better, and more agile  Air Force-industry team. Attendees at the Air Force ISR Industry Day will gain a greater understanding of Air Force ISR vision/direction in a changing fiscal and operational environment, plus a sense of where the private sector can best contribute to global situational awareness across the spectrum of international security demands, including peacetime surveillance and deterrence, counterterrorism, and joint combat operations.

Presentations in this special one-day event will build upon the tenets and priorities of AF ISR 2023: Delivering Decision Advantageand will focus on ISR development, fielding, and funding strategies as well as future requirements.  The day will include discussions on Air Force requirements to ensure high-quality tactical intelligence for war fighters and other theater customers while further supporting operations across the full range of potential military operations.  In addition, speakers will highlight requirements for Air Force contributions to global situational awareness in the form of integrated air, space, and cyber ISR operations, as well as analysis and data dissemination.

Homeland Security Conference

Coordinated Response, Integrated Security

More than any other operations, homeland security missions call for coordinated and end-to-end collaboration. Success depends on preparing for the unknowable, preventing the unthinkable and planning recovery from the unimaginable.

To assist in the process, AFCEA International brings together the people in charge of ensuring success—from subject matter experts to frontline responders—for two days of open discussion about the various aspects of homeland security. The 2015 line-up of speakers and panelists will explore integrated security and the Internet of Things; emergency management; FirstNet; and the importance of sharing information among other topics, including Ebola crisis management.

NGA Industry Day 2015

Information-sharing and partnering are essential for keeping our nation ahead of today’s complex security threats. To facilitate government-industry innovation, AFCEA Intelligence and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) are sponsoring a full-day classified (SECRET) event dedicated to identifying areas of possible collaboration and business opportunity to help enable and accelerate NGA’s strategic vision. The event will be held at NGA’s Springfield facility on March 16, 2015.

NGA Director, Robert Cardillo, will kick off the day, sharing his perspective on the importance of the partnership between NGA and industry and how to best leverage that relationship to provide the tools, advanced technology, sophisticated techniques, and specialized expertise that enable Team NGA to provide decisive mission consequence for its customers.

Air Operations Symposium

The Air domain is a vital Global CommonsAir Operations in this domain confront an environment of changing technology, diverse missions, demanding conditions, and competing public, private and international interests. The implications for mission success reach across multiple agencies, from Defense, to Homeland, to FAA and others, and extend from space to ground, locally, nationally, and globally.

Critical thinking, constructive dialog, and a new forum—one featuring the most knowledgeable and experienced leaders in military, government and industry and the emergent technologies in play—are key aids to navigate the challenges and leverage the advantages of air operations. AFCEA Air Operations is that forum, designed to target the critical aspects of command, control and coordination in the Air Operations domain.

Coast Guard Intelligence Industry Day

April 2, 2015

With a confirmed speaker line-up including VADM John P. Currier, Vice Commandant of the Coast Guard, and RADM Christopher J. Tomney, Assistant Commandant for Coast Guard Intelligence and Criminal Investigations, this industry day will provide valuable background to enable the private sector to better partner with the Coast Guard.

The agenda will explore the Coast Guard’s unique missions and authorities and explain how industry can work to ensure interoperability among assets as well as with the other four armed services and branches of the government.

Attendees will gain a greater understanding of the Coast Guard Intelligence vision and direction in a changing fiscal and operational environment, plus a sense of what technologies, capabilities, and services are needed most by Coast Guard Intelligence professionals.

Defensive Cyber Operations Symposium

May 5- 7, 2015

The U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency’s new operational role in the cyber domain as network defender creates a formal relationship between DISA, U.S. Cyber Command and the command’s military service components. The goal is to improve security, but a successful strategy depends on a matrix of participating organizations adapting technical solutions and adopting enterprise management to improve efficiency, security and reliability.

Linked by a commitment to cybersecurity, this community of partners will gather to discuss and present on operational themes such as the the teamwork, relevant guidance and priorities, and associated perspectives of mission partners united in the development of an integrated approach to operating and defending the network.

TechNet Augusta 2015
