Maintain Your DoD 8570.01-M Credentials

Attend designated Cyber Symposium 2013 sessions to help sustain DoD 8570.01-M mandated certifications. Federal agencies have agreed that ever-changing cyber security threats lead to the need for a continuous learning process to help keep our workforce up to date. In response, industry certification bodies adopted a continuous education model to address the requirement. AFCEA has partnered with Cypherpath LLC, a cyber security training and education company, on a Continuing Education Unit (CEU) program to provide training and to document relevant critical knowledge and skills-related activities which meet DoD 8570.01-M requirements. Attendees may receive CEUs by attending qualified sessions (designated with a **) to support CE requirements for sustaining DoD 8570.01-M certifications. Please stop by the AFCEA booth on the exhibit floor to obtain a flyer with answers to frequently asked questions about CEUs.

Other Credential Programs May Apply

Event attendance may also satisfy other continuing education requirements. Please contact the appropriate oversight organization for determination. Some applicable organizations might include: Project Management Institute (PMI), National Contract Management Association (NCMA) and ISC2.

Cyber Theater: Cyber Warfare Infrastructure

(1 CEU CompTIA A+, N+ and S+)

Mr. Kevin G. Coleman

Senior Fellow Technolytics Institute
Cypherpath

Cyber Warfare Infrastructure In this one-hour presentation - Cyber warfare is an ill-defined conflict domain that poses unique challenges and opportunities for Militaries around the world. As organizations race to establish attack capabilities, a second track looks at defending their critical systems from attack. This program examines offensive cyber capabilities, defensive cyber measures and the dynamic field of cyber intelligence. Integral to this program is an examination of an actual retaliatory cyber strike, cyber battle damage from an actual cyber incident, as well as the economic implication of acts of cyber aggression. Waging cyber war is much more than just sitting at a computer and hacking another computer. It requires planning, monitoring and a modern cyber warfare system that operate on its own infrastructure. Through this interaction, participants will understand how the cyber warfare infrastructure is constructed in support of its mission.

Cyber Theater: Spectrum Supportability Risk Assessments

(1 CEU CompTIA A+, N+ and S+)

Matthew Grenis

Defense Spectrum Office E3 Program Manager

Brian Farmer

EMC Management Concepts

Spectrum Supportability Risk Assessments are a relatively new requirement mandated by DoD Instruction 4650.01, DoD Policy for Management and Use of the Electromagnetic Spectrum–This session provides a one hour in-depth look at the data requirements, format and content of the SSRA. In the form of a workshop participants will build a rudimentary SSRA, walking through the information required in the document and the subsequent review process. Includes extensive audience participation. Since approved use of available spectrum does affect communications access and availability spectrum supportability is an important information assurance consideration.

Specific topics to be discussed include:

  • What is the purpose of the SSRA?
  • What regulatory, operational, and technical data is required?
  • What are the submission and processing requirements?
  • What is the expected format and content of the SSRA?
