DON IT Conference,  East Coast 2014

The DON IT Conference has been approved for June 24-25, 2014, and will be held at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Md. No conference fee will be assessed, but registration is required.

The conference is aimed at DON government, military and support contractor personnel, and is open to all DoD personnel. Military participants should wear the uniform of the day for all events. Civilians and contractors should wear appropriate business attire.

Due to travel restrictions in place to minimize overall conference costs to the DON, registration for attendees in a TAD status is limited to 50 people. Once this number is reached pre-registration will be closed. On-site registration at the Baltimore Convention Center will be available for local attendees only. While the conference and DON attendance at the conference have been approved, attendees must obtain approval from their individual chain of command.

Bus Transportation

Bus transportation will be available to attendees traveling from the Pentagon on June 24 and 25, free of charge to riders. The bus will leave from the Pentagon at 7:00 a.m. on both days, and leave from the convention center at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday and 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. To sign up for a seat on the bus, please email jessica.pelenberg@bcinow.com with your full name, organization, phone number, and email address. Space is limited, so if you are interested please submit your name as soon as possible.

With reductions in the DON IT budget, sweeping changes are needed to reduce DON IT spending without hindering operational capabilities. The conference will provide the opportunity for DON leaders to engage directly with stakeholders who are responsible for following and implementing new requirements and processes. It will provide clarifying information and the ability for the DON IT community to engage and ask questions about newly established policies and processes.

The conference will also include training and the opportunity to obtain Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Continuous Learning Credits (CLCs). SECNAVINST 1543.2 requires Cyberspace/IT workforce members to have 40 hours of continuous learning per year. These CLCs and CEUs help fulfill this requirement.
