National security is continuously being redefined as awareness of the cyberspace domain evolves. Cyber threats and challenges grow every day. Successfully defending our networks requires a team approach. With this in mind, the AFCEA International Cyber Symposium will engage the key players, including the U.S. Government, the International Community, Industry and Academia, to discuss the development of robust cyberspace capabilities and partnerships. The operational theme "Cyber Awakening: Protecting a Nation's Cyber Security" will explore the aspects of operational security of U.S. Government, DoD and Industry Networks, cyber cooperation among Joint and Coalition partners, and discuss the training and development of the cyber workforce.
The Symposium also focuses on the critical missions of U.S. Cyber Command and the interface with Army Cyber Command, Marine Corps Forces Cyber Command, 10th U.S. Fleet Cyber Command, 24th Air Force Cyber, Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, DoD CIO, National Security Agency (NSA), Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Academia, and Industry partners.
The first annual Defense Acquisition Modernization Symposium will be hosted by AFCEA in Washington, DC on August 5-6, 2014, and will highlight “Better Buying Power” as it is applied to government, industry, and academia. Features of this event will include leaders from the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (OUSD(AT&L)), Assistant Secretary of the Navy (ASN) (Research, Development & Acquisition (RDA)), along with Industry leaders to provide updates and exchanges among scholars and practitioners of public sector acquisition. Participants and attendees will represent a broad range of acquisition expertise from academe, government, and industry that are shaping acquisition modernization. Speakers will include acquisition leaders from across the spectrum of leadership. The format will include plenary speakers, panels, and breakout sessions to meet the needs of all attendees. Attendees will leave with not only a greater understanding of “Better Buying Power”, but also some of the changes and challenges within the acquisition facing government and industry. This conference will be one of a kind and limited to the first 700 attendees.
