Event Description and Objective

AFCEA Joint Information Environment  (JIE) Mission Partner Symposium 2014

 

The Joint Information Environment, under development by the Department of Defense, is at a critical stage of its formation.  This centerpiece of the Department’s information sharing and security strategy depends on a matrix of participating organizations to adapt technical solutions and adopt enterprise management in the name of efficiency, security, and reliability.  Neither a turnkey solution nor a program of record, JIE intends to serve collective defense and security needs and those partners, government and civilian, who contribute to these missions.  A community of partners, linked by commitment to JIE success, need to understand the state of current and future developments in this ‘mission imperative.’  AFCEA International is proud to host an important conversation among these mission partners at its JIE Mission Partner Symposium 2014 at the Baltimore Convention Center, Baltimore, Maryland from May 12 to May 14, 2014.  Industry will join leaders from the DoD CIO, Defense Information Systems Agency, Joint Chiefs of Staff, COCOM's, Agencies, military services, intelligence community, and other government offices to address the progress and way ahead for JIE.  The operational theme centers on the teamwork, relevant guidance and priorities, and associated perspectives of mission partners united in development of this collective capability.

AFCEA International, established in 1946, is a non-profit, non-lobbying organization serving its members by providing a forum for the ethical exchange of information, and dedicated to increasing knowledge through the exploration of issues relevant to its members in information technology, communications and electronics for the defense, homeland security and intelligence communities.

 

 


Event Attendance Guidelines for Government and Military Employees

AFCEA International JIE Mission Partner Symposium registration for active duty military and civilian government is free.

 

Due to federal budget constraints and our desire to help enable Government and Military Employee participation, AFCEA International has updated their event attendance guidelines. It is the opinion of AFCEA International that in accordance with 5 CFR 2635.203(b)(4), all Government employees (including military personnel) may attend this event at no cost and may accept meals and refreshments available to all Government employees at a nominal charge. This opinion is based on the fact that the conference is open to all Federal employees with an interest in the subject matter.

Employees who wish to attend this conference should seek approval from their supervisor or ethics counselor and ensure that free attendance and nominal meal charges at this conference have been approved.
