Track Two: Infrastructure – Building and Sustaining The Installation Information Infrastructure
Track Lead: Charles Jerzak (CIO/G6 AONS)
It’s the network. The Army has the responsibility for establishing and operating LandWarNet – the Army’s portion of the Global Information Grid (GiG) – and the installation Information Infrastructure is the home station communication component of LandWarNet. The Army’s Installation Information Infrastructure (I3) is an integrated solution providing common user communications and services. The I3 Track covers programs and activities that impact Installation Information Infrastructure and common user services. Participants will take away a better understanding of the efforts underway to provide an improved, expanded and sustained infrastructure and their role in these efforts. Attendees will learn about current initiatives to establish Area Processing Centers, Enterprise Services (starting with email) and a new focus on DOIMs. Furthermore, the audience will learn how the CIO/G-6 is bringing the community together to synchronize efforts to support transformation and restationing during Base Realignment and Closure/Global Defense Posture Realignment (BRAC/GDPR). The track will consist of presentations, discussions, and technical training sessions focused on the operational advantage for the War-fighter.

| 0945-1045 | Session 1: Installations as Docking Stations Speakers: Charles Jerzak and Cynthia Dixon
Installations have become critical not only in supporting the concept of ‘train and operate like you fight’, but the network enables the warfigher to participate in information sharing with deployed forces to ‘get into the fight’ before they actually deploy. During this session a panel of experts will address this concept and engage the audience in how this concept is evolving and how it will become part of the DOIM mission. |
| 1230-1330 | Session 2 : Installation Information Infrastructure (I3) Master Plan Speaker : Charles Jerzak
There will be presentations on infrastructure programs. This will include presentations and discussions of the elements of the Installation Information Infrastructure Master Plan and the purpose of the plan. Subject mater experts will provide information about Area Processing Centers (APC), impacts of Base Realignment and Closure/Global Defense Posture Realignment (BRAC/GDPR), infrastructure funding and technologies that are/will be in the installation information infrastructure. |
| 1345-1445 | Session 3: Area Processing Centers 101 Speaker: Mr. Dan Batelka
Presentations on Area Processing Centers (APC) as they relate to Base Realignment and Closure/Global Defense Posture Realignment (BRAC/GDPR), portfolio management and economies in systems operation and maintenance. |
| 1600-1700 |
Speaker: Mr. Michael Bomba
Presentations will be given on the changes occurring to installation networks and common user workstations, applications and associated infrastructure, and DOIM operations as APC migration moves forward. |

| 1100-1200 | Session 5: Base Realignment and Closure/Global Defense Posture Realignment (BRAC/GDPR) Speaker: Mr. Jeremy Hiers
Presentations will be given concerning Military construction, Base Realignment and Clousure/Global Defense Posture Realignment (BRAC/GDPR) planning and execution. |
| 1430-1530 | Session 6: DOIM Operations Speaker: Cynthia Dixon
Presentations and discussions will take place concerning DOIM operations as they are impacted by external forces and guidance. Metric and performance measurement will be discussed and information provided concerning expected changes in the systems that collect and report installation services and capabilities. There will be a discussion of the tools and services that will be available to support the asset management. |

| 0845 - 0945 | Session 7: Multimedia Visual Information and Video Teleconferencing Speaker: Ruben Rodriguez and SGM Dennis Starnes The session will discuss Multimedia/Visual Information (M/VI) and provide information on the planning related to that activity. An M/VI is an organization made up of individuals whose principal responsibility is to provide M/VI services to a DA defined geographic area of responsibility. The M/VI may consist of resources located on more than one installation, consolidated under a single Area M/VI Management. The M/VI will be aligned under a single DOIM to provide service support to on-installation and off-installation customers in their assigned area. The Installation M/VI continues to be the backbone for all related mission requirements. In addition, we are developing the Army Enterprise Multimedia Visual Information Service Centers. The EM/VISC primarily provides above base-level support and services across the Army. Their services include, but are not limited to: graphic arts services, photography services, VI multimedia services, and VI broadcast/video/audio services. The EM/VISC course of action is determined based on economies of scale, complexity of production, type of production equipment involved, and resources requirements. These service centers coordinate the delivery of products and services in support of customer requirements. Once considered just an alternative to travel, VTC has now become a core, mission critical tool for Army leadership. Presentation and discussions will take place concerning the proliferation of VTC within the enterprise, feasibility of centralized management and scheduling tools, and how migration to an IP network will affect the Army's VTC capabilities. |
| 1000-1100 | Session 8: Installations as Flagships Speaker: Mr. Geoffrey Prosch, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army, Installations and Environment
