Enterprise Directory Service – Provisioning (EDS-P)

Speaker: Mr. Bob Bachert, NETCOM/9th SC (Army), ESTA

Network Enterprise Technology Command, lead by the Enterprise Infrastructure Concepts Division, Office of Strategic Concepts and Integration, Enterprise Systems Technology Activity, is establishing a standard Army Enterprise CMDB/SS solution for the LandWarNet.  Provisioning is the movement of user identities, data, and services from a Generating Force (GF) Active Directory (AD) forest to and from a Deployed Force (DF) AD forest. The Army has a multiple AD forest environment that does not allow easy movement of individual soldiers from one location to another without manually recreating their individual account. The EDS-Provisioning (EDS-P) Service, as part of the Enterprise Directory Service (EDS), will allow provisioning of units and individuals from a GF AD structure to a DF AD structure with minimal to no impact on the GF’s access to the Global Information Grid (GIG), Network Operations (NETOPS), or Army Enterprise Architecture.  The services design is such that it can easily provision units or individuals from the GF to the DF and back again seamlessly. The purpose of the EDS-P is to allow systems administrators or Organization Unit (OU) administrators to provision units or individuals between a GF and a DF with as little disruption to current network operations as possible.  After the provisioning process, users must be able to access server(s) to gain access to the Army’s network, as well as be able to send and receive e-mail. A demo of the configured EDS-P Service capability will be presented followed by a Questions and Answer (Q&A) session to address questions and comments from the forum attendees.

IG IA Compliance Checklist

Speaker: Don R. Watson, CISM, CISSP, CAP

Deputy Chief, Information Assurance Division, Department of the Army Inspector General Agency

The DAIG will publish the Army Information Assurance (IA) Compliance Checklist in 4th Quarter, FY 07. The Army IA Compliance Checklist is the primary tool used by the DAIG IA Division to inspect for IA Compliance (SECRET and below) across the Total Army. Developed by the IA Division, it closely resembles the 15 functional areas in the IA Compliance Self Assessment Tool. The new checklist identifies applicability for each functional area, which is broken into two categories: Service Provider (SP) – organizations that provide the IA service (e.g. DOIM, shadow DOIM, etc) and Other – organizations that receive a service from the SP (e.g. tenant unit, tactical unit, etc). The checklist clearly defines activities and responsibilities for IA staff and leadership.

Session 1: Leveraging Enterprise Services

Speaker: Dr. Ed Siomacco, Vice Director, PEO-GES

This session will discuss NCES capabilities and their four distinct product lines of enterprise-wide managed services; Collaboration, Portal, Content Discovery and Delivery (CD&D), and Service Oriented Architecture Foundation (SOAF).  NCES will be fielded in Increments, with multiple spirals deliveries in each Increment. Each increment will build on and be shaped by the previous increment, as well as new capabilities, technologies, and information strategies. The PEO-GES acquisition approach is to adopt proven specifications, best practices, standards, and interface definitions to buy new or leverage existing managed services through a variety of acquisition mechanisms. NCES will use performance-based services acquisition practices and incorporate commercial standards, performance specifications, and interface definitions to acquire NCES capabilities from selected commercial and government managed enterprise service providers. Additionally, discussion will include the USSTRATCOM role as the Operational Sponsor for NCES Increment 1.
