Track Eight: Enterprise Services

LandWarNet enterprise services enable information sharing between our Army customers and DoD, Joint, Coalition, and Federal users and organizations. Specifically, enterprise services provide assured access to secure information in order to promote situational awareness and superior decision-making. The Enterprise Services Track will focus on the Army customers' operational needs, and how the Global Network Enterprise Construct will deploy enterprise services capabilities to enable net-centric operations that drive collaboration among users and information systems. This Track will also focus on service performance and management capabilities delivered to our customers on installations. Track topics will encompass enterprise services from the DoD and the Intelligence Community (IC) to Army generating and operating forces.

Session 1 – DoD Enterprise Email
Speakers: LTC Peter Barclay, CIO/G6 Advanced Technology Directorate (ATD)
This track session will review the Enterprise Email Objective to improve mission effectiveness and security, while reducing costs, with a single (enterprise) email solution, i.e., browser enabled access; complete global address list; and universal calendaring, that provides access from any location with a single email address which is a centrally administered, managed, and supported service, and consistent with DoD-Intelligence Community Enterprise Email strategy. The session will also discuss how enterprise email will support Army BRAC. |

Session 2 – Enterprise Content Management Services
Speaker: Mr. Paul Beardsley, Army Publishing Directorate (APD)
This session will demonstrate the current capabilities the APD has to offer with the deployment of the Army Publishing Content Management System (APCMS). These enterprise tools, available at no cost to approximately 1.7 million people within Army communities, include XML-based PureEdge software that can be used to fill, edit, print, and save forms automated with varying degrees of functionalities and Silanis ApproveIt software to digitally sign forms and other documents. Records management and email archive capabilities are currently being piloted that will allow organizations to archive their documents and emails based on records retention rules and policies and will allow users to easily store, search, and retrieve information for later use as the need arises. |

Session 3 – Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for GNEC for Enterprise Services

The panel member organizations have a role in building, servicing, and operating and maintaining the Army’s GNEC enterprise services. Each panel member will discuss how his/her organization addressed service level agreements and operational level agreements in supporting the global customer enterprise when integrating the Army Service Catalog with the DISA Defense Enterprise Computing Centers (DECC)/Army Processing Centers (APC) and Network-Centric Enterprise Services (NCES). |

Session 4 – Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) as an Enterprise Infrastructure
Speakers:
Mr. Ralph Lowenthal, 9th SC (A), Enterprise Services, Mr. Ron Bechtold, CIO/G6, and Mr. Terry Edwards, AMC CIO/G6
This session will address Service-Oriented Architecture as an Enterprise Infrastructure to support enterprise services including web based services and cost recovery models. Additional discussion will include how the Army funds enterprise services. Panel discussion topics will include data strategy, enterprise information management (EIM), and SOA, with a more in-depth discussion on A&VTRs SOA solution consisting of an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) to link together SMS/SCCM, CA Unicenter, Retina scanners, Altiris, and Spectrum data sources in order to collect detailed asset information for IAVM compliance, Whitelist registration, and other tasks. |

Session 5 – Collaboration Services (SharePoint/Chat/IM/Unified Communications)
Speakers: COL Earl Noble, PEO EIS/PM AKO and Mr. Ted Dmuchowski, CIO/G6 GACKO
This session will discuss Army and DoD current and future implementations of collaboration tools and services. DISA will discuss the IBM Sametime (Button 1) and Adobe Connect (Button 2) DoD collaboration capabilities. PM AKO will discuss integration of SharePoint and DoD collaboration tools into AKO/DKO. PM NSC will discuss their on-going pilots utilizing unified communication tools. The CIO/G6 will close with the Army’s strategy for collaboration. |

FMWRC Information Services

This session will present the OACSIM/IMCOM way ahead for Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Command (FMWRC) Information services (IS) and to provide an update on the status of the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) and FMWRC partnership plans for Personal Information Services at Army installations.
A cumulative review of key issues and highlights from the Track's presentations will follow this discussion. |
