Personal Identifying Information (PII) being handled in this collaborative environment. PII in the wild; intra and internet instances. Most organizations are either unaware or unable to identify a way to gain visibility into just how vulnerable they are in terms of a PII breach. Numerous folders and files contain bits a pieces of PII, some include small lists, some larger ones. Not only must appropriate policy, practices and technologies be put into place, but an aggressive plan must be developed to identify the location of all PII within the enterprise and either eliminate or secure it properly.
