SOLUTIONS Series: CyberSpace/CyberWarfare Program

Track 1: Emerging Network Warfare
How is war in cyber space different than conventional warfare? This track will approach this question from 3 perspectives. The standard doctrine of traditional warfare has a cyber warfare component utilized when sovereign nations execute war. There also exists a transnational base who coalesces around economic interests and this group of non-state actors controls a significant part of critical infrastructure. Additionally, there is a transnational (irregular) base of non-state threats; groups/individuals who pose a threat to state and non-state entities. The new paradigm of military, civilian govt. and industry will result in a hybrid approach to network warfare. A conflict that begins with a transnational entity could rely on resolution through a state-based means.

Wednesday 1100-1230, Traditional Threats - State-Based Warfare.
Traditional threats - state-based warfare. Sun Tzu and cyber warfare: the rules still apply! State-based Traditional and unconventional strategy and tactics apply in today’s increasingly networked world. How are we Organized? How do We Build the Trust and Confidence between Civilian Gov and Military and industry? How is the cyber threat different than traditional warfare? How is it the same? What does the US citizen expect?
