A Word From Our Symposium Chairs
The government and industry members of the AFCEA Intelligence Committee are pleased to present the next in an ongoing series of classified symposia focused on the challenges and opportunities facing the Intelligence Community (IC).
The AFCEA Spring Intelligence Symposium, held at the Top Secret/SI/TK level, April 19-20, 2006 in the Defense Intelligence Analysis Center, Bolling AFB, Washington, DC, will explore three issues key to the future of the Intelligence Community:
- What we have learned from Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom, the Global War on Terror, and other recent crises affecting national security.
- How we have changed our priorities as a result.
- How a renewed partnership between Government and the private sector is critical to the Community's future and its ability to apply these lessons.
The Symposium's format will incorporate individual speakers who will set the context for those issues and four focused sessions exploring them in greater detail. The first session will emphasize lessons learned from international and domestic challenges in which intelligence has played an important role. The second will explore changes in requirements, priorities, and plans stemming from these lessons. The third will examine new acquisition, business, and process models that the Intelligence Community could employ more effectively to bring to bear the considerable capabilities of industry, academia, and other sectors. The final session will provide an opportunity for speakers from the government and the private sector to explore emerging needs for which capabilities have yet to be defined, or for which technologies are either emerging or in prospect.
In addition, and new for this symposium, lunch both days will be provided in the Bolling Air Force Base Officers Club and include special luncheon speakers (transportation provided).
This symposium and the white paper that will accompany it were designed to help generate discussion and recommendations useful to the DNI. The number of speakers has been carefully considered to ensure that there is ample opportunity for give and take with symposium attendees.
Our goal in these events is twofold: To contribute thoughtfully to the ongoing dialogue within the IC and to enhance your professional development and networking. We hope you will join us in the DIAC on April 19-20, 2006!
