From points south of DC:
Take the Capital Beltway (495) to the Baltimore Washington Parkway (295) North. Stay in right “local” lanes in order to exit onto 295 N. Follow 295 to Exit 1, US Naval Research Lab. As you exit, stay in the right lane and turn right on Overlook Avenue. Proceed for approximately 1/2 mile. Overlook Avenue leads directly into the South Gate of Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling. (This is the only base entrance that will be ready to facilitate your entry.)
Once on the Base:
Once you are through security at the South Gate, proceed to the DIA Headquarters on Chappie James Boulevard for approximately one and a half miles. DIA Headquarters will be on your right at the corner of Chappie James Boulevard and MacDill Boulevard. To enter the DIA HQ, see "DIA HQ Entry" below.
Please be advised that due to this Symposium the South Gate will be very busy and may have delays. Plan to arrive early and, when possible, carpool with others.
For a Google map of the South Gate, please click here.
Because of security procedures and limited parking, we recommend arriving as early as possible (registration and a continental breakfast begin at 7:00 a.m.). The symposium sessions start at 8:00 a.m.
Please be sure to bring current vehicle registration and current insurance card along with a picture ID card to facilitate entry onto Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling. You likely won’t be asked to produce them, but not having them with you, or if these are expired, could mean you would not be allowed on the base.
On Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, you may park in any open, unrestricted spot, but you likely will find available parking limited.
Two specific parking garages have been designated for symposium attendees. These garages (two-story cement structures labeled 357 and 358) are located off Thomas Road (once through the South Gate proceed two miles on Chappie James and make a right onto Thomas Road. The parking garages will be on your left.) Shuttle buses will run approximately every 15 minutes from the parking garages to DIA Headquarters.
Please note that attendee parking in the Commissary lot is prohibited.
