Colonel R Joe York is a native of New Cambria, Missouri. He graduated from Truman State University in 1966 where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education. Colonel R York’s formal education includes a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Webster University, St Louis Missouri and a Masters of Science in Education from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California.
Upon retirement from the Army in 1995, Col R York assumed the position as the Military Family Program Director at the U. S. Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania.
His Military Education includes the Infantry Officer Candidate School, Adjutants General Basic and Advanced Courses, Air Assault School and the Command and General Staff School. He is a 1987 Graduate of the U. S. Army War College.
Col R York’s assignments include, Commander, 8th Infantry Division Finance Company, Commander, Regional Personnel Center, Bad Kreuznach, Germany, Commander, Military Enlistment Processing Station, Nashville Tennessee, Commander, US Army Publications Center, St Louis, Missouri, Commander, US Army Recruiting Battalion, Sacramento, California.
Prior to assuming his current position as Military Family Program Director, Col R York served as a Faculty Instructor for the U. S. Army War College in the Department of Command, Leadership and Management.
Col R York’s military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with 3 Oak Leaf clusters, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. Other awards include the Air Assault Badge.
