Randi Klein has been married to RDML Mike Klein since 1978. Rear Admiral Klein is currently serving as President, Board of Inspection and Survey. Previously he served as Deputy, Submarine Warfare (OPNAV N87B), Chief of Staff, Second Fleet, and Commodore, Submarine Squadron 6. They are the proud parents of three young adults; their oldest is in the graduate school; a daughter is in Air Force officer in pilot training; and their youngest will graduate from college this summer.
Their Air Force daughter is a fourth generation member of the U.S. military: Randi served on active duty as a Naval Officer (Manpower/Personnel/Training Specialist), her father was career Army, and her grandfather served in the U.S. Navy during WWI. Randi’s most interesting active duty tour was in the SECNAV White House Liaison Office, answering personnel-related problems on behalf of President Ronald Reagan.
Randi has been involved with mentoring Navy spouses for many years, in many different capacities. Currently employed as the Executive Director for Dolphin Scholarship Foundation, Randi continues to be an active volunteer Navy spouse educator. She is a Mentor and former Team Leader for COMPASS Norfolk, and serves as a Total Team Trainer. COMPASS, sponsored by Naval Services FamilyLine, is a free, three-day mentoring program designed for new Navy spouses. She has helped implement new COMPASS teams in Groton, CT; San Diego, CA; Kitsap, WA; Gulfport, MS; Sugar Grove, WV; and Naples, Italy. Randi helped develop SETTING SAIL, an introduction to COMPASS and Navy life for fiancées and spouses, presenting the program at USNA, Norfolk and Yorktown, VA.
She has been actively involved since 2001 in the Hampton Roads CORE (Continuum of Resource Education) program, which plans and executes seminars and workshops for military spouses. She has been a speaker, planner, and advisor for many different CORE programs for both senior spouses (CO/XO) and junior spouses (JO). Randi has also mentored two classes at the Command Spouse Leadership Course in Newport, RI.
