What is a Young AFCEAN?
The Young AFCEANs (also fondly known as YACs) are current and potential AFCEA members age 40 or younger. YACs are designated as a distinct unit in the AFCEA organization and are represented at the chapter, regional, and international levels of leadership. The Young AFCEAN program provides its participants with an unparalleled opportunity to network with other young professionals that are on their way to becoming industry, military, and governmental leaders. In addition, AFCEA chapters worldwide regularly offer Young AFCEAN events that promote professional development, leadership, and mentoring. Though the program is distinct in many ways from its parent organization, Young AFCEANs are first and foremost AFCEANs. This means they have access to all AFCEA International events. These events are attended by leaders in both government and industry and allow networking opportunities with decision makers on both sides of the realm. This exposure allows Young AFCEANs to have a better understanding of the “big picture” in their industry and, by making contact with industry and government leaders, provides them valuable resources. Participation in the Young AFCEAN program, and in AFCEA International events, should be viewed as critical investments in a young professional’s career. Upcoming Young AFCEAN Events
